Yes, the brand matters. FWIW, I have an Exedy clutch, and it's great. No problems whatsoever.

Use the free search here and form your own opinion of what clutch is best for you. Type in words like 'Exedy clutch' or 'Act clutch' or 'Clutchnet clutch' etc etc and start reading up

Don't forget that you can get an OEM clutch at a great price from Courtesy Nissan as well. They sell parts to us orgers at slightly above their cost.

the f1 clutch (on link on first post) says pretty much the same exact thing as the exedy stage1 kit that other org.er is selling. material and quality are to be the same

what makes it $200 difference???

thanks, kenny

I replace my stock clutch with a ACT stage 1 and a Fidanza Flywheel. I have 65000 miles on that set-up and the clutch is still strong but is showing signs of getting tired, especially after warming up. I like this clutch and will be using it again on my maxima. Hope this helps.

Brands can certainly make a difference. On my car I've had an ACT clutch...was great, but thier pressure plates are friggin stiff. I've also noticed they probably wear a little quicker than the others The current clutch is the 6-puck from clutchnet and I love it. I believe Exedy are great clutches as well, and the pressure plates have a more OEM feel.

I heard Center force had some good clutches... One of my mechs I am cool with had a 450WHP 300ZX z32 before he totalled it... (YES HE TOTALED THAT BEAUTY) and he praised Center forces dual friction clutches... Then again... he owns his own shop now, so I don't know if he has a deal with them to promote that brand... lol
