Maxima Vs Acura TL
Maxima Vs Acura TL
OK! not trying to put another racing scene up here.. Just had a curiosity.. Why do all Acura ppl try competing to a NISSAN MAXIMA? The last time i check was that nissan makes maxima to compete against HONDA .. actually ACCORD not ACURAs? So everything nissan designs is for competing against a HONDA. OFCOURSE Acura being a luxury vehicle will have better design like our INFINITY.. So if they compare it to MAXIMA.. then i think thats nissan's VICTORY that maxima is being compared to something it was not even made to compete for!!!!
i dont agree to that either! Maxima is a 4 door! Acura is a 2 door. You dont get that luxury in integra that you get in a MaX. no competition again
What i was trying to say was.. nissan made maxima to compete with accord.. but it blew it away.. they did not want to compete with high end hondas i mean acuras.. but acura ppl started competing us with them! thats an honor. What my conclusion is that nissan should STOP making Infiniti to compete with High end hondas caz our Nissan family is good enough to take both honda and acura! Infiniti guys should find a better competitor!!!

However, just for the record. Acura TL is a 4 door sedan. the CL is the coupe.

Just like Accord 2 door and 4 door competition? Thats the problem with Honda then. Nissan makes ONE car, Honda comes with million models of the same category to compete! heeh
I think its Nissan that has more models in this category than Honda. Honda has just the Accord and Civic to compete in sedans from 14-25k while Nissan has the Sentra, Altima, G20, and Maxima starting in that range. Acura really only has 3 models of cars w/ the TL and CL being just coupe and sedan versions of the same car. Comparing the Max to the Accord is a bit of a stretch since Accords come w/ smaller engines and fewer features. If anything Nissan's plan works better since its models are more closely priced and fill the price points better w/ more room per size and power. This is the same plan used by Toyota to a greater extent w/ the Echo, Matrix, Corolla, Camry, IS300, ES300, and Avalon all pricing in under 35k.
The reason why everybody compares the 2 is b/c a 2002 Max is nearing TL-S price range and they have similar hp levels. I don't know if anybody noticed this but a TL is cheaper than a I30 by a noticeable amount when you option the I30 to match the TL's features. The Max is actually a bigger car in terms of interior space and the 2002 6spd will be marginally faster than a TL if the car produces anything near advertised power. If I recall correctly a lot of the Max guys liked to compare themselves to the BMW 330i which starts almost 10k more than a Max. That car has far less to do w/ a Max yet there were still people going i road-killed one in my 2nd Gen Max auto w/ 2 cylinders backfiring. They've tested that car running near E36 M3 speeds yet no one believes its fast. The reason why? It doesn't look as impressive on paper w/ only 225hp as some Maximas.
You guys love your cars and who wants to be told they bought the wrong car. The Max is a very good car for the money as is the TL or the Accord. Fighting over who's car is faster is just you guys defending your purchases.

Re: Re: Maxima Vs Acura TL
mishap you make a good point..
my mom has a 2002 330i 5spd, and it doesn't compare to the max or the TL type S... that BMW is damn quick.. i drove it a lot this summer, and i raced many people in it.. many older M3's and they didn't stand a chance..
I think people compare the TL and Max because the max doesnt really have competition near it's price range (until 2k2's).. camry??
... accord
... i can't think.. oh well, you get my point..

WELL since you have BOTH what do you think?
yes i am evil, very evil. sometimes ditry
.....
Max4Speed.... don't worry! At least your car looks just as good and better then most ACURAS!
Now, the new Maximas true competition would be an Acura TL-S, based on engine/hp specs. But if you compare cars in the same class, Nissan outperforms other cars in it's class by a long shot. Even if the new Altima is now in the same class as the Accords and Camrys, the Altima runs a 14.4 1/4 mile! Camry 5 spd is far from that, Accord V6 doesn't even come with a 5spd... Even the 4 cyl. models of the Altima have 175 hp, which is at least 25 more ponies then the 4 banger Camrys and Accords. However, the quality of the plastics and finish of the Honda and Toyota may make up for the lack of it in the Altima.
