Ripped Hose - What's it called?

I have a 95 Maxima SE. I decided to get everything under the hood in order today and see what i need to replace because i am selling the car soon. As i could have predicted however i wound up completely ripping an already old and ripped hose. I need to replace it but have no idea what its called. It is a short (about 6 inches long) wide (about 3 inches in diameter) hose that connects the MAF to the engine... Then I pulled on the throttle and heard that the engine was sucking air from the hole. It would rev up to about 2500 rpm and then start choking. When I wasn't gentle with the gas and just tapped it hard, the engine would choke right away, the revs would drop to 300 rpm, linger there for a few seconds and then the car would shut off. Does this sound like it is caused by the ripped hose?

I think thats your MAF ****ting to bed. If I can recall, if you car can't rev past like 2500 your MAF **** to bed.

yes...that was your IACV hose. You need that. You have a major vacuum leak going right now. I would take what you have left to an Autozone and ask for a foot of it. Then get some hose clamps and put it back on.

is it dangerous to drive with a ripped hose. I have to be at work tomorow at 7 and taking the subway+bus takes about 1.5 hrs vs a 10 min drive. I mean i know the engine is sucking unfiltered air and in general the situation isn't good, but is it still drivable? Its a roughly 5 mile drive and theres an autozone right next to work

would a dirty IACV also cause rough idle? It gets to the point where if i close the door or the car shakes a little bit, the rpms jump.

sounds to me like the "air intake hose" from your description, 6in long & 3in diameter, connects engine to maf, duct tape usually will hold in an emergency. get a new one from the dealership asap.
