I'm seriously thinking of selling my car...
I had a dude drop my tranny to get my driver's side axle out (all other attempts failed)...
He could not get it out.
The axle is getting worse and worse, and I really don't want to spend the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to source another tranny or have Gibraltar disassemble my transmission. Though it doesn't look like I have any alternatives.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm pissed.

That was the first thing we tried.
I should elaborate as maybe it wasn't clear.
There is a Maxima mechanic in NYC who does good work. I took my car to him to get my axle changed and we couldn't get it out regularly. We tried pulling it out the regular way, then punching it out through the diff from the passenger side. I got it to him yesterday so he could drop the tranny and remove it... he couldn't get it out himself, so he took it to some shops for them to use air tools and presses. They couldn't get it out that way either. So as far as I know my axle is fused to my transmission.
Again, just looking for suggestions. I don't want to dump the car on someone else unknowingly but I don't want to dump tons of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ into repairing it. I don't need the car for work but I like to have it. Let me know if you have any good ideas.

so even a press wasnt able to get it out? it definately would not have gotten hot enough to "weld" the 2 mating surfaces together, i have seen corrosion and grime buildup hinder the removal but thats it. sounds like you might have a bent spline or something, which still is kinda weird.
Maybe you could try posting on NYCMaximas.org and see if one of those guys could help you out.. Lots of friendly ppl there and some good mechanics too (from what I read)..

I had this same problem a few months ago, so I went to the dealer and talked with a tech. He told me to put the passenger axle back in, then remove the drivers axle first. That solved my problem & costed me a 12pack of bud.

"Some Food For Thought"
I had same issue altho didnt give up n pull tranny i cut a leaf spring into a U shape end to fit good all the way around the axle to pull str8 after about 4 hours literally of prying and banging and pulling (actually broke both inner n outer joint b4 it gave) But that ***** came out. Here's the problem and im assuming its everyone whos had this issues prob cause would b bout impossible for anything in the trans to hold it unless you had enough torque to twist the splines. That damn C Clip thats what my issue was someone had replaced the clutch and stuffed the stock axle back in, im assuming without replacing c clip and reusing a mangled clip or careless re installation of the axle.
Needless to say when it finally gave IT GAVE, and C Clip did not fell into case YEA ****KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk So now im pullin tranny anyway and splitting case over a damn 50 cent clip. But i guess ill stay positive lol now i can do Throw Out Bearing, and new Diff Bearings. 160K and shifted like a virgin WTF
