They're reliable (for the most part), look good (for a family sedan), have great stock performance to start with, respond well to mods, and aren't like every other import you see on the road.

We shouldnt have to persuade you buddy. You get the mod bug man, thats all I have to say. Once you get it, TKO. Ive come to the conclusion with myself that any car I get in my life will always have something I want to do to it. Plus, the 4th gen has the most mods that can be done/ or have been done out of the other maximas and reliability. Plus, my motivation is I love it. I love modding my car. Plus its nice have something thats different that isnt ugly different.

don't do anything you don't want to do, and don't spend money on something you don't like. Everyone else has good input, it'll hit you on it's own accord, you can't make it hit you

to every one else:
thanks for your opinions but i guess i didnt explain the situation enough....
i already have the mod bug and i love my maxima cause it's roomy and i can take my friends and 4 snowboards to the peak easy as heck. i'm just really confused with the mods that i want to put on there and it gets really frustrating and here i just cant ask for opinions because some members just talk arrogantly....

What are your goals, etc? What I would do immediately is add wheels spacers and a decent set of lowering springs and a fair set of struts.

1) motor/stock performance
2) sensable styling that responds well to many different styles of modification

from a 4dsc to a blingmobile you can pretty much go any way you want with good results (provided you do it right).

well, if you have the mod bug, but are confused about what to do, there are some good choices, a good strut/spring setup will help a lot, there's either the Stillen or Ionic lip kits which look great, wheels, spacers, a fair amount of engine mods, etc... basically look at what you'd like to do, check out the 4th gen threads in the 4th gen section and member's rides, see what you like about them, what you don't like about them and go from there.

I've had my Max for close to 3 years now and have just now ordered wheels, haha. I'm really picky though, just make sure you like the mods before you get them, because nothing sucks more than paying $900 for a lip kit and shipping, and then hating the way it looks.

PM me if you have any questions or whatever

+10 whats even better is if you can go to maxima meets and see the cars in person... some mod just because they like it (me) some attack 1/4 mile times, some auto-x, some just for looks and sound... like most said a good suspension setup should be a good start

Handling mods are a great idea like springs and struts and better wheels and tires.

I'm running my Max and I30 stock and love both of them!

Put the money into doing some high quality maintenance and the car will last you forever.

BTW, the 4th gen's look the best. The 3rd gens are too square and the 5th gen's are too bug eyed looking in the rear. The 6th gen's are too damn much $$ for any kind of car. Any questions?

i starting to "modify" my car because of this site. when i got it, i didnt really give a crap about it, just was glad that got rid of my BMW 740IL. now that i joined this site, i'm restoring it...new radiator support and a complete 97-99 conversion. front and rear. but i'm not customizing it. i prefer the OEM look.
(but the more i drive it, the more i fall in love with it)

+1, especially on that last part. man, i still get surprised by how much power mine has when i accelerate from being at a light. sometimes when i release the clutch a little faster than usual or use a little more gas than usual the car throws me back into my seat and i get a little bit of a rush lol. i love it when it surprises me like that.

Why a 4th gen? Because you get to join maxima.org and create terrible threads in the 4th gen forum - it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. You should try it sometime. Oh, wait...

Why no thanks to me? That IS my opinion. If you have to ask anyone why to do anything ever what is the point? Should you just carbon copy the way I modify my car for my driving habits and pleasure? That's like saying why SHOULD I be interested in playing basketball and asking a bunch of basketball players.
