rear brake light woes

my rear pass brake light works fine during the day...

...they even come on when i turn on the headlights...

...the problem lies when i step on my brakes, the rear pass brake light turns on instead of becoming brighter...

...i've been through 2 sets of 1157 bulbs..any idea fellas?

you're not explaining something correctly.

if the rear passenger light is off...then comes ON when you press the brakes, it sounds like the brake light comes on, but the normal light is OFF?

more details are needed here

I had this problem lately. Check the ground wires going into the connectors by the lights. I had a ground wire back out on one of the connectors so the light had a floating ground. It worked fine until I stepped on the brakes at night. Then the backup lights lit up instead of the brake lights. So just make sure everything has a good connection.

sorry what i mean to say was...

the rear passenger tail light turns OFF when i step on the brake...

the correct event should have the tail light becoming brighter...

i'll check out the wires tommorow...

hopefully i won't have to go the stealership for the parts as they can be butt monkeys when it comes to pricing.

Check all connections and sockets for corrosion and make sure you are using the correct bulbs in the sockets.
