6th gen finally back to the track for 2008
I finally got back out the track. Too bad it's in the middle of summer. I missed out on the cooler May temps. This is my 2nd year of taking the car out, one thing I found out is that it is tough to make the car go faster. The only difference between this year and last as far as mods was I added the Cattman Y pipe and the Nismo exhaust. The dyno showed it added 14whp and 12tq but unfortunately it didn't translate appreciabable faster times.
I got 6 runs in.
1. Me 15.864 vs Mazda3Speed 4dr hatch. I lost he ran a 15.022.
2. Me 15.994 vs Dodge Magnum R/T Hemi I won he ran a 16.069
3. Me 15.733 vs Dodge Neon SRT4 I lost he ran a 14.902
4. Me 15.738 vs Unknown Hot Rod I lost he ran a 14.270
5. Me 15.602 vs Mazda3Speed 2dr hatch I lost he ran a 15.196
6. Me 15.734 vs Dodge Charger R/T Hemi I won he ran a 15.998
All in all it was fun as always. I was surprised by those Mazdaspeeds. I didn't realize they were that fast. The highs for me was running a PB 15.06 and getting to race the Dodge Charger and Magnum R/T Hemi, been wanting to race them for a while.
The lows, not hitting 15.5 and not beating my previous best by .2 Not many good pics, no video either.
Here is one of the Mazdaspeeds:

Bandimere? Sweet times if so. You IN for headers when they come out? Was the dyno done at the same elevation? What were the conditions for your uncorrected numbers for the dyno? And what were the uncorrected numbers for the dyno?

Thanks. Headers, possibly when I get the car paid off. LOL It's still my daily driver and those are the only cats I have on the car now. I did the Dnyo in Denver, about 600ft lower than Bandimere. Unfortunately I don't know what it means "corrected"/uncorrected numbers. Here is my thread for the dyno

I put the charts out there too.

Ouch! 15.06 PB with all your mods? Do you mean 15.6 cause all of your other numbers are in that range.
I'm thinkin the chrome wheels and lack of headers are holdin you back.
P.S.
Remove the back seat also, that thing weighs like 60lbs.

Ohhh ok. Good numbers then.
Yeahs it really that altitude that kills us, so much so that the NHRA has a formula, so the pros can adjust their times as well.

The adjusted trapspeed definitely doesnt add up -- may want to double check the correction factor. From what I remember, it wouldnt be a solid # you subtract from ET and Add to MPH -- Those are the numbers you MULTIPLY by
Edit: According to http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/altitude.html
Denver, CO -- 5800ft correction factors would be .9405 for the ET and 1.0563 for the trapspeed for Classes Comp, S/C, S/G, S/ST
and for Stock/Superstock would be .9276 ET and 1.0773 Trap.

Well, I'm pretty new at this so I appreciate any input I can get. So if I understand you correctly 15.602 x .9405= 14.6736
90.38 x 1.0563 = 95.4683 ohhh I just got faster

It's about 5200' elevation, so it is a little lower. I like the fact that it is open through November, so that means the DA could get pretty low say around 1800' - 2500' or so.
I was only referring to uncorrected numbers. If you have the runfile, it will give you the correction factor used and a value (SAE & 1.16, etc)
Apollos2: times arent bad at all once corrected properly. 60ft is still pretty weak, but that's probably more to do with the elevation and your heavy rims.
Nmex: 30% is pretty severe but I totally believe it. Last time I went to Albuquerque to visit the relatives, the car felt uber weak - could barely squeek the tires on a moderate clutch drop.

My car feels stronger and my airflow increases when I go down there.
I'm usually between 5800' & 7400' vs the 5200' ALB.
Appollo- the answer to you problems is boost. Im sure you can get some better times. With my 4th gen I went 15.6 at 91 in pueblo, with an intake y pipe and a 2.4. Im sure you'll get some better times out of it.

but it's not cheap and I don't know how well the rest of the car will handle it. Chernmax has turbo on a 6th gen, but I don't recall seeing his ET times. Plus he's done a lot of work to his tranny so it can handle it, I bet he's got some cash invested in that set up. I might get the same or better with No2 but it's still my daily driver so I gotta be careful not ruin it. Maybe once it's paid off I can do a spray.
I may look into headers next year but again, it's my daily driver and I don't want to get SUV gas mileage or have the car sound really loud. Each of these things I don't know to much about (boost, spray, header work).
