Need a Quick Answer- driveshaft seals
Alright I bolted my car back together and before I put on the wheels I put in the manny tranny fluid. Goodthing I didnt put the wheels back on yet cause all the sudden MTF started gushing out of the driveshafts! Oh my god! I almost cried. Fortunately I think I must not have done something right with the seals. Question is which way does the seals go in? I put the side with the circular spring on the inside and called my local Nissan dealer to ask about the seal. They said I had it correct, the springy thing on the inside and the flappy piece of rubber on the outside. I'm also sure I did not interchange left and right seal. I was comparing the original seal to the seal I just put in (both OE BTW), and the new ones can spin around in the holes in the transmission, its really wierd. I also am pretty sure I drove in the seals correctly as well. I'll probably go out and rent a seal puller tool before my class tonight, so hopefully my car will be done by later tonite. So if someone can help me on this very last hurdle, I can finally drive my car once again.
The flat side is supposed to point outside. You have to gently tap the seals in the tranny so if they are able to "spin" in there, you probably have the wrong seals. Did you carefull compare the sizes of the old vs new?
