quick question about a y pipe
quick question about a y pipe
Im looking to buy a y-pipe and i was just wondering how can i tell a difference between fed spec and cali just buy looking at it . lets say i look at a budget or wrapspeed y-pipe can i tell the difference? thx
kinda noobish question for how long i've been here but all my life of owning a max i've had a fed spec so now that i got a 00 cali spec i was wondering, is the front header on a cali spec longer seeing it doesnt have the bend like the FED spec.....
question #2- what if i had a cali spec y-pipe but wanted headers??? i know some headers bolt up with y-pipes of different manufacture but how would you do this seeing as though 3.0 headers are made shorter for the bend??? just curious, (im waiting for the, its pointles to do headers blah blah blah)

The front cali spec manifold contains a pre cat. The Y pipe bolts to the pre cat, so yes it is longer.
Aftermarket headers will replace all the stock stuff. The front pre cat is removed.
Only shorty headers will fit to a traditional Y. But for example, if you had a Cattman cali Y, Stone Racing headers and wanted to connect them you'd need a Stillen extension pipe. The Stillen Y is 2 pieces and fits all VQ30's. The small pipe should do the trick.
