how do i go about getting the stock shift *** off of my 95 GLE? i want to replace it but i want to make sure that i can get it off first.

 

Well with my 99 there are just 2 screws on the back of the shifter. The way to get to it is just put the car into gear when the car is off in 1st gear. Then there are 2 screws facing your headunit, just unscrew them. Then you will have 2 wires at the bottom of the shifter that is not allowing you to take it off. Those are connected to your overdrive buttons. Cut those but try to cut them as far up as possible so that you will be able to connect them to your new shifter or if it doesnt have a shifter then you would just place the button somewhere else. Once those are cut your thumb button to shift out of gear will pop out and then your set.
