If you mean 1/2 quart per....
3000miles, that is considered normal. Actually 1 quart per 1000miles is considered normal by most manufactures. Howevere I've never owned a car that used that much unless it leaked somewhere.

try switch to 10W30 ->
Your motor out of the factory is on the loose end of the spec. Thicker oil will have fill in the gap. Nothing to worry about.
