Have you began with simple things, such as getting your battery checked? Your starter checked?

Extra cranking -- high-mileage engines

Coincidence. My 97 has 210k on the speedo. Just came from service without a real fix. Suspected that fuel line losing pressure over park time putting the fuel pump and pressure regulator as probable. However these were ok. Service told me then that it is likely the injectors seeping fuel during park time and the extra cranking was happening until the the fuel was cleared out of the cylinder heads. Sounded logical to me. Now the price of a set of injectors installed was quoted close to $1K. Therefore the cost-benefit decision was made to tolerate the extra cranking. Apparently it's not uncommon with older injected engines. If anyone has a different analysis, please advise.

Go ahead and spend 5 bucks on 2 gauge wire and a pair of ring terminals. Made all the diference in the world for me.

Replace the injectors yourself. Should take about an hour and you can get new injectors for a couple hundred.

For a first timer, it's going to take at least 3-4 hours.....

Fixing it properly won't be cheap. You can buy a used one from someone parting their car out in the For Sale Forum, or PM fanaticrockford, the 4th gen used parts king.

Oh, next time post your questions in the following link until you've reached 15 worthy posts and can start your own thread.

Your responses are much appreciated. I'll wait a bit ($$) and go with new injectors. Thanks again.
