For the past few months my clutch pedal feels like it's scraping a bit and makes a slight groaning noise when I move it. It works fine, but every now and then it engages a little sooner than I expect. The fluid level looks okay. Any ideas?

The parts are stock, but I have a SS line ready to install some day when I get the motivation.

 

Throwout bearing maybe?

 

It's kind of surprising because I had my clutch and all those bearings (throwout, pilot, etc) replaced about a year ago. I used a 5th gen clutch.

 

I've seen a Maxima throwout bearing go bad in 1 year. Not a reflection of your driving, but more like poor manufacturing.

 

Does the tranny have to be pulled to replace that?

 

To replace the throwout bearing you have to remove the tranny yes. Are you hearing the scraping sound coming from the actual clutch pedal assembly or are you hearing it from the clutch itself?

I hear it from the clutch pedal, but I can imagine if it's from further up the line it might be vibration through the linkages. I dunno.

 

The throwout bearing was fine. The problem was the fork rubbing against the drive shaft (or whatever).
