Need smog test advice...

I just posted this on the west coast thread, but wanted to post it here too with the hopes of getting a little more feedback from different people. I'm mainly looking for good suggestions or opinions on my situation. I'm sure a lot of you have been in the same type of ordeal. But I'm worried about this...

So my 96 max is due for her first ever cali smog test. She's originally from Maryland...a lot less emissions restrictions over there

I've got a K&N CONE AIR FILTER, stock headers, BUDGET Y-PIPE, stock cat converter, and stock exhaust. I've got a chance of passing emissions if I don't say anything about the mods right? Oh and drive it around for 30 minutes and leave it idle for like 20 minutes right before the test...eh?

Anyone know of a place that is relatively laid back on this type of stuff? I'm just afraid I'm not gonna pass because of the visual and then I'll have to spend more money to fix it then do it again then blah blah blah...

I'm in San Diego (Pacific Beach) so suggestions there would be best but I'm willing to travel as far north as LA. Any other thoughts, suggestions, experiences, words of encouragement or WHATEVER would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you should pass as long as you have no CELs. The only thing you have hurting emissions is not having pre-cats but like you said if you drive around first it should be ok. Im not from cali though so i dont know best.

I dont think an aftermarket intake would fail you, idk tho.

I'm in Houston, Texas and I've passed our Emissions with my "03" for 5 years that's lowered, aftermarket intake system, Cattman Ypipe, Cattman Catback, Warpspeed Metallic cat, ground kit, UDP, Cattman Ti-FSTB, Addco/Progress Hybrid Rsb, 8000K HID upgrade headlights and 8000K foglights and much more.... 85K+ miles. I pass with flying colors and you should too. I not sure why someone would visually point out any mods when you don't have a CEL condition. I've got my daily driven 1986.5 Nissan D21 has 325K+ miles, with headers, cold ram intake, mild cam, Dual MSD ignition coils, Magnaflow cat, with 2 1/4" exhaust system, engine oil cooler, etc... and performs the load dyno style emission test. Got the point?
To make things more advantageous in your favor; change your engine oil and filter, clean your air filter, pcv valve and clean your engine bay to impress the judges and possibly lessen the chances of the judges to hate on you but admire you for your attention to detail. Also drive that car for at least 15 mins b4 going to the Emission test. In my opinion you don't have anything to worry about....

LOL. Most of your mods are irrelevant to the subject at hand. We're talking about emission testing in California, not Texas. You guys have it much easier than we do.

Sorry to break it to you, but your point doesn't mean squat as California is completely different. Your car wouldn't even get to the sniffer test as it would fail the visual. Be appreciative that you live in Texas.
