tip for increase gas milage

hey guys, there is a big tip to increase ur gas milage. go to the fuel injection service...it will increase A LOT.....trust me guys, it only will cost u about 40-60 dollars. DO NOT put the injection liquid into ur gas tank, cuz those r useless....ok...for those of u who is getting really bad milage, go do the service as soon as possible. IT IS TRUE~~!!

no offense but Ive been told that the fuel injector service cleaning is only effective in rare instanaces where the vehicle has alot of miles and has been neglected to some extent...I was told that its more of a money maker for the dealership when it is done on newer cars..but hey like ive said before..I COULD BE WRONG!! by the way did you get this service and get an increase in your gas mileage? thanks for the info

I agree with BigDog. Why in the world would I do this on a brand new car with just over 3100 miles??

I might have to agree with this guy. I wasn't getting over 300 a tank for a while, and recently my car was acting a little sick, so I put some STP Fuel Injector Cleaner into my car, and went a whole tank, this is the next tank now, and so far I hit 340 right now with no FUEL LIGHT ON!!! And that is with racing! It really helped! My car only has 12k of miles.

Fuel injection cleaning and service is typically done as a high mileage maintainance item. Around 60,000 to 90,000 miles. I had an 89 SE and sold it with 100,000 miles after 11 years and only put in the Techron injection cleaner every 4-6 months and never had a problem.
So, every 3 months or at your oil change interval, pour in your favorite injection cleaner. I notice better performance and mileage even on my new 2k SE with only 10,000 miles.

That is what is recommeneded. Do not use STRONG injector cleaners though, could damage the injectors. I used STP black bottle. Worked great.

I had always heard that Mobil Premium fuel has injector cleaner in it. They used to advertise it heavily. Anyone know if that is still true and if it makes a difference.

My Max is a little over two years old with 32K miles on it and I consistantly get 340 miles out of a tank with usually a quarter tank left (no fuel light on). I generally get about 24mpg with semi-aggressive driving...mostly local.

i have close to 25000 on my 2k1, and i never ever get 300 per fill up.

maybe i should go get the service done, or do you all think that the additives would work.

or maybe i just drive too aggressively.

Hey, isn't that what the detergents present in 93 octane do? Prevent deposits in the injectors?

If you consistently put brand name, 92-93 gas in your maxes then this procedure shouldn't be even necessary.

I heard its a good thing to do it every oil change, 3k of miles. But you can push it to every 6k, I am sure is fine.

I drive agreesively alot, and my gas never got that good. Till I used stp and now wow! I have raced many times, hit 140+ on this tank, etc..

The Techron in Chevron's gas is suppossed to clean the injectors for you...right? I only use Chevron Premium now, and the car seems to run great, and I'm getting about 305 miles with a little over 3/4 a tank of gas, so roughly 22 miles per gallon. I drive mostly highway, but also a lot of mountainous terrain with some city driving...also, this is going speed limit of 55mph.

Then what to do with manual recommendations?

The manual says not to use this stuff at all, people here use it without reported problems. So why does it say not to use them?

Because occasionaly it will throw off your cars computer, if it happens your car will run like crap until you run the gas out and refuel.

Thats what I was thinking as well. I think in the owner's manual it says it is not rcommended to use any kinds of additives. So isn't a fuel system cleaner an additive. I'm confused. I'm not sure but I think I am not gettind that great of gas mileage so I might have to try this.
