Anyone else interested in a Cattman Y-pipe for a 5.5 Gen?

As most of you may or may not know Cattman is no longer making Y-pipes for the 5.5 gen Maxima since headers have shown to be far superior in their power making ability. Saddly not everyone wants to invest the time and money on headers and for a few just a y pipe would surfice. I am hoping to get a list of people who would be interested in purchasing a Cattman Y-pipe and maybe trying to convince Brian to do another run of 5.5 gen y pipes.

I have no idea what pricing would be but once I have enough interested I will contact Brian for more information.

So if your interested Post!!

And just so we start off on the right foot, this thread is NOT for debating/commenting on y-pipes vs headers, whether it is about relative installation costs, horsepower gains, etc. Please keep this purely to whether you are interested in a y-pipe and maybe some performance and install discussions about y-pipes, but that's it.

I will clean this up periodically, if necessary, at my discretion.

Zack, I also edited the title to make it specific to 5.5s.

For the non-OGs, how much did the y-pipe cost originally?

I'd be down, but it would be nice if this y-pipe had equal lenght runners, like stock but bigger.

We found early in our y-pipe making days that equal length downpipes don't really do much for power. OTOH, a y-pipe designed this way seems to sound nicer.

I just saw this post, and I appreciate everyone's interest in this part. \If there are enough people interested, we'd be glad to make the part again.

The most recent price was $360, but I don't know what the future price will be. Materials and components have gone up dramatically since the last time we made these, but the actual fabrication costs should be less than before due to a much more efficient manufacturing environment. So, I'm hoping we'll be at about the same price (or a little less), but too early to tell.

One of the local guys here showed me a dyno where he picked up 9whp on his Auto. Everything I have read has said 7-10whp.

Bolts right in place of the factory y-pipe.

7-10 hp sounds good for a pretty simple mod.

I'm a little confused...is the y-pipe still included with the headers from Cattman? He just isn't selling the y-pipe individually?

Yes , when you purchase headers from Mr Cattman you get the Header/Y-Pipe Combo. This thread is trying to get just the Y-pipe (where its used with stock manifold) back into production which Cattman isn't making anymore.

Oh ok, that's what I was thinking.

By the way, are you about done with that test pipe? haha.

The y-pipe that comes with the headers will not fit with stock manifolds. It is a different y-pipe than if you bought the header set - the y-pipe made to go with stock manifolds is different than the one made to go with Cattman's long tube headers. They are not interchangeable.

(oops, I see someone answered this)

Looks like there's more demand out there than I realised. Guess we'll need to make the 02/03 y-pipe too!

Brian

I think if all the O2 sensors are plugged in and functioning you should be okay.

If you have an 02 or 03, you have a 5.5 gen. For the second question, I have never heard one so I can't help you there.
