Steel wheels

I'm in shock. I just called the dealer and was told that a 16" alloy maxima wheel (2001) is $384. Lets see that's over $1500 for a set and I don't even have tires yet. I want a second set of wheels to mount snows on for both better traction on my 100 mile a day commute and to save my 17" stock wheels from the salt. Tirerack has steel wheels as part of a winter package that are $44 ea. Can I get 16" maxima wheels at the junk yard and if so would only 2000 & 2001 fit? Or should I just go with the cheap steel wheels? What about the cheap alloy's at Tirerack that start at $105...are these any good. The kids might not have boots this winter, but my maxima has to look good.

I got the $105, 16" SE Fox 2 rims from the Tire Rack for my Blizzaks. The kind of look like the standard SE 17s. I will post pics when I get them installed on Monday the 19th.

Check here for inexpensive OEM replicas. http://www.aaarims.com/specials.shtml#nissan

Re: Steel wheels

Search the forum and ebay. You'll easily find an extra set of OEM wheels there.

Nissan wants $577 each for the 17"!!

Thats $2908 with tires! Outrageous.

Luckily I have insurance for the 2 wheels that got damaged. ouch

MS 2K1AE has the right idea

Go to the tirerack website...you can get a decent rim or some metal rims with hubcaps for cheap....they just sent me a brochure for snow tires that fit the maxima.....here you go...

www.tirerack.com

$512 (15" steel wheels with covers and Blizzaks)
608 (16" " )
840 (16" alloy rims with blizzaks)

You would be hard pressed to find a better price than those folks...and they come mounted and balanced...no taxes...just a little shipping.
