2009 Nissan Maxima pricing increased by $870

The 2009 Nissan Maxima was just launched in June with pricing coming in at $29,290 and $31,990 for the 3.5 S and 3.5 SV respectively. Well, Nissan has just announced that due to the increase raw material cost, pricing on the 2009 Maxima is going up by $870.

The 2009 Maxima 3.5 S will now go for $30,160 while the 2009 Maxima 3.5 SV will go for $32,860. Buyers of the 3.5 SV can opt for the Sport Package which features a sports-tuned suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, premium leather seats, paddle shifters and more. The Premium Package, available on both models, features a dual panel moonroof, 7-inch color monitor with RearView Monitor, Eucalyptus wood-tone trim and more.

Both models are powered by a 3.5L V6 that produces 290-hp mated to an Xtronic CVTO transmission. Fuel-economy comes in at 19/26 mpg (city/highway).

I dunno I asked the dealer I have gotten two of our last 3 nissans to quote me the max with the sport package i think it list was $35K and I could have it for about $31000 and that was without any discussion.

Whereas the other local dealership that used to be a nice locally owned place when i went to look at the max had a about a $3000 markup over the sticker price.

i went to the dealer up the street from me (Hayward Nissan) the day they got their first 09 maxima... he called me as soon as it came off the truck in back in the beginning of july... they wanted 52k for it.. i walked out laughing... i went to Napa Nissan the next day picked mine up for below sticker price, then went back to hayward and purchased wheel locks... bet the dealer in hayward felt like an ***... man u should have seen the look on his face...

When I first read the price I assumed you were Canadian. But your location information says otherwise. 52k U.S. is insane.

LOL! A $870 increase in this awful economy will never stick in real life. Plus, Nissan is eliminating potential purchasers. Who's the lamebrain responsible for this move?

52k completely paid off over 60 months with tax and interest, even then that seems extremely high I understand asking more for a new car cause it's completely new but thats insane

They probably felt they could get away with it because everyone else is doing it. I maintain a car price database, and have been surprised by the size of many increases--nearly $1,000 isn't uncommon. Even Chrysler has had a couple of large increases, and they weren't selling cars at the old prices.

they marked the GT-R up $2000 for material cost. You cant completely blame them...raw materials are costing more.

Raw material prices are up, but the price increases aren't directly related to the amount of meterials in each model. There isn't that much more steel and plastic in a GT-R than in an Altima. Did they raise the price of the Altima $2,000?

Demand and willingness to pay are also factors.

These increases although are said to be for an increase for prices in raw materials it could be many things, the factory heating bill could have went up and the machines and workers complain when the place gets cold

Its just a reason to raise prices, maybe because they saw how bad the new Acura TL styling is for their 09 they felt justified raising prices..lol

I really don't like the new TL but it's better than the old TL. I nearly bought the 2008 TL-S, but Maxima appealed to me more for the money.

Sorta sad for the TL when the first thing folks notice about it is the strangely shaped chrome-loaded grill. Makes the somewhat controversial front of the '09 Maxima look pretty good by comparison.

I am also very happy with the deal that I got.

Exactly! On a 3 Series BMW it's gone up more than 3k.....they've even made stuff that used to be standard, optional. Double whammy.

My M35x is coming off of lease in March. I don't know if it makes financial sense to purchase this car when I would only have 1 year left on the warranty? I still am undecided as to what works best financially.

The Infinity doesn't impress me. I like the G37S or whatever the 330hp coupe is, but to me I'd rather have a fully loaded Maxima SV with Sport than a G35...but thats just me.

That Infinity shouldn't impress you when discussing cars. InfinitI should though. I am in the near same boat. My FX will be coming lease in March and there's no way I plan to buy it for the 24k residual + taxes making it almost 27. One year warranty left and really whats the point. I can get an 05/06 530xi for 17-18k now anyways.
