I dunno I asked the dealer I have gotten two of our last 3 nissans to quote me the max with the sport package i think it list was $35K and I could have it for about $31000 and that was without any discussion.
Whereas the other local dealership that used to be a nice locally owned place when i went to look at the max had a about a $3000 markup over the sticker price.

i went to the dealer up the street from me (Hayward Nissan) the day they got their first 09 maxima... he called me as soon as it came off the truck in back in the beginning of july... they wanted 52k for it.. i walked out laughing... i went to Napa Nissan the next day picked mine up for below sticker price, then went back to hayward and purchased wheel locks... bet the dealer in hayward felt like an ***... man u should have seen the look on his face...

I understand asking more for a new car cause it's completely new but thats insane
They probably felt they could get away with it because everyone else is doing it. I maintain a car price database, and have been surprised by the size of many increases--nearly $1,000 isn't uncommon. Even Chrysler has had a couple of large increases, and they weren't selling cars at the old prices.
Raw material prices are up, but the price increases aren't directly related to the amount of meterials in each model. There isn't that much more steel and plastic in a GT-R than in an Altima. Did they raise the price of the Altima $2,000?
Demand and willingness to pay are also factors.

These increases although are said to be for an increase for prices in raw materials it could be many things, the factory heating bill could have went up and the machines and workers complain when the place gets cold
Sorta sad for the TL when the first thing folks notice about it is the strangely shaped chrome-loaded grill. Makes the somewhat controversial front of the '09 Maxima look pretty good by comparison.
My M35x is coming off of lease in March. I don't know if it makes financial sense to purchase this car when I would only have 1 year left on the warranty? I still am undecided as to what works best financially.
That Infinity shouldn't impress you when discussing cars. InfinitI should though. I am in the near same boat. My FX will be coming lease in March and there's no way I plan to buy it for the 24k residual + taxes making it almost 27. One year warranty left and really whats the point. I can get an 05/06 530xi for 17-18k now anyways.
