X-Drilled Rotors vs. Regular Rotors

So my step dad tells me I'm going to need new front rotors for my car. I've heard alot of talk about the X-Drilled rotors and I know AvalonRacing is selling the front pair for 165. From what I believe X-Drilled don't give out as much break dust, could you guys give me some more advantages of X-Drilled rotors so I could convince him to add the extra dough and buy them...btw regular pair for the frotn is like 100 right?

btw some more mods! I'll update my sig soon!!!

1. They look awesome
2. They cool faster=better braking power

Yea, where have you been?

that is oversimplifying

you can dissapate heat better, but thats not always good. for day to day driving, they can actually require a bit more braking effort as the rotors stay too cool. However, if you drive very hard and autox and dont mind alot of pad wear, then Xdrilled is for you.

I am oversimplifying too, but you get the idea. I think avalon might even have a faq about this.

for street use, either one is fine. You'll only see marginal gains with drilled/slotted rotors. Most of the difference in brake upgrade performance will be pads, lines, and fluid.

you have to understand that door sills, oem rubber floor mats and blue lights all over the car aren't mods. engine modification are mods(intake, exhust, pully, etc) are mods...i have a Fiamme E and F note...do you think i call that a mod..nope..it isn't...its like an upgrade..hehe

the X-drilled rotors are one of better choices in shopping for rotors..certainly better than the stock rotors..
i'd rather stay away from X-drilled rotors only because they tend to crack(because they are drilled, their structural integrity is compromised..)...try a set of slotted rotors..the difference? well, since the slotted rotors are just that, slotted on the surface of the rotors(not drilled thru the rotors), they vent out built-up gas during the breaking, thus performing better...

I know, but if I don't have those engine "real" mods X-Drilled rotors woudl still be considered mods....

I'm not debating you because you honestly know what your talking about but I remember reading a thread about what your saying and someone said somthing like

"There are rotors of good material and semi good material. In both cases having a rotor crack is a super non common event"....

could you possibly send me a link to where I could purchase these slotted rotors....

actually they don't dust less...if anything they will dust more than stock because of the "cheese grater" effect...dusting really depends more on the pad though...

afaik, Stillen does not make slotted front rotors for the 2K Max. I haven't checked the other manuf. so I don't know if EBC or KVR makes them in slotted.

well guys as I said I had to buy new front rotors, but from what you guys say it seems like I really don't need them, I mean I don't do any Auto-Xing and as far as racing goes I limit it to the 0-60 (maybe 80) races with the poor honduh-s...Plus a pair of front rotors is 60.00 at adv. auto zone so 105.00 more just for X-drilled is too extreme for me (especially since im in the market for a system)...thanks though

Where did you get your Brembo front/rear superslot rotors? I thought they were only available in cross drilled through stillen?
