Will paint chips rust?

I washed my car today and noticed my first paint chip on my hood. Way to go Nissan with your high quality paint. My question is:

Will this thing rust eventually. My mom has a Camry with a paint chips on the hood. Now they all rusted down at the metal and the darn thing has red/brown rust spots all over the place.

Do I need to go to a body shop now?

Yes they will. Just get some touch-up paint and you will be fine.

Actually no they wont rust cause the primer is still underneath, most and I say MOST of the time the paint chips are only the top clear coat and the actual color. If you look closely you can see sort of a grey primer under neath the chip.

But I would still recommend touching it up, but it wont rust as people make it out to be

My 2K1 has a BAD chip on the roof, just above the windsheild that has a rusting paint chip. Nissan said we're sorry to hear that, call your insurance company.

Do bears sh*t in the woods?
Of course it will rust if you're down to bare metal. Before using some touch up paint try and get the chips as clean as possible.
this means Q-tips and rubbing alcohol and/or
lighter fluid. If the Q-tips come up brown you are removing some rust.
Good Luck
