'FASTSM3'...uh...i don't think so....

'FASTSM3'...that's the plate of M3 i had 'fun' with...
a white M3 with rims, bodykit, slammed, had some kind of exhaust with dual DTM tips..and a driver that seemed to have lots of pride for his biceps..(don't ask me why, but he was kept flexing his arms before and after the races...).

anywayz...coming back from Rowland Heights, this all happened in 57.
the driver of M3 caught up to me from my left hand side, kept flashing his freaking blue hazard lights and he was(not lying) flexing his right arm looking at my car...i'm like..uh..huh?
so, it went on from there...i was going about hmmm...85mph..downshifted to 4th(don't know why i didn't downshifted to 3rd..but the air was freaking cold tonight and my car was really really good..)...so i'm accelerating trying to catch up and i think i caught him at about 120...(i almost rear-ended him cuz my car was going a little to fast and he wasn't accelerating as fast he thought)i passed him on his right and then i shifted into 5th gear going about 140 i think(note to self and others in Southern Cali: If you're trying to do 140mph runs in 57 freeway..get the damn Koni shocks or coilovers..i was feeling the need of better suspension..)..then i let up my throttle cuz i'm going too fast(no shiet) then he passed me and started to flash his freaking hazards and flexing his arm thingy again..this **** was by far the most annoying sob i ever raced on freeway. it's just too bad that his M3 wasn't as fast as his license plate said it was...'FASTSM3'...muhahah...i don't think so...

to save myself from getting flamed by other BMW enthusiasts..i'm a great BMW fan and M3's always been one of my favorite cars. but this one was just...urgh...annoying as hell..

Muhahaha! "flexing his arm thingy again.."

i wasn't joking when i almost rear-ended him...i thought he'd pull a little harder than that...i had to change lanes soo fast just to get around the 'mr.bicep' guy...

what's funny is that, he kept on flexing his right arm, and i guess he wanted to switch to his other arm, rolled down his driver side window, and flexed his left arm...

nice!

as for which tranny it was, I dunno. I think it could be either. At this point, you have roughly the same amount of power and torque as an M3, and traction certainly wasn't an issue.

Either way...good race

I recently met up with one on the highway. He had a fat woman in the car and I had my wife (then) so looked like he clearly had more weight. Car was also lowered so, I figured probably modded.

He was behind me when I punched at an 80 mph roll (couldn't get a side by side). I pulled on him a bit through third then power shifted to 4th at redline. After that, he began to pull and then pass me around 120. In short, he was walking me in 4th. Had to back off by the time he was at my rear door because of traffic in my lane.

To be honest, I was surprised. I figured if I raced him when he was behind me, he would have the draft/slingshot advantage but didn't think that would give him enough to get around me. I now have a bit more top-end respect for the M3 - although I still don't know if he was modded. Wish I could have gotten a side by side.

well...they're not THAT much faster. nowhere near the 0-60 in 5.6 performance of the manual M3.

even a convertible auto does 0-60 in about 5.8-5.9 thats about .8 faster than the so said 6.7 seconds of the man max...thats quite alot.

well, there was a difference in torque among the E36 models..
the 95-96 had 225ft-lbs@4250rpm and the 97-00 had 236ft-lbs@3800...
this is because the engine displacement went up from 3.0 to 3.2.
and because of these changes, the 0-60 on these cars went from 6.6 to 5.5.(this is for sedan/coupe only..) and 14.4 quarter mile to 14.0. the convertibles, unfortunately, because of their added weight, they do not share this same numbers...i don't have the numbers for the convertibles right now, but i'm sure it was about a full sec slower in 0-60 and about a half sec slower in 1/4. i'll try to look for the numbers...

ummm..no.

you're trying to tell me that adding several hundred pounds and a power robbing automatic transmission will only drop the 0-60 by .2 seconds?

Automatic M3 Convertible's ran mid-sixes.

The new one's hard top run 4.8, the convertiable run's 5.4//// so thats.6 more
so useing that math alone if the hard top 99 would run 5.6 which i think is low. A convertible would run about a 6.2...still faster than a man. max. Anyway you look at it...the m3's are faster than the maxima. And yes i know those are the new numbers.but Ive forgotten the unmoded older body style m3 numbers.

Are we talking about the E46?? No. We're talking about the E36.
I'm perfectly aware of the performance of the E46 M3, convertible and coupe.

Considering there's a nearly 100 horsepower difference between the E36 and E46, quoting E46 numbers here would be pointless.

Oh yeah. 6.2 is faster than a STOCK Max..

The M3's (E36) are governed to ~130mph, unless you get a chip, which will remove that, and raise the rev limiter (different for every type of chip). A lot of maxima owners consider that the power to weight ratio is the same, but the M's gearing is far superior to that of the maxima. I've had a run in with an E36 M3 on the highway (on 95N in Baltimore) and it was close, though he had a definite advantage. The car appeared stock, but you never know with those things.

One question for you: how did you drive after you see this guy flexing? I wouldn't be able, to. I'd be laughing too hard! Up here in Norcal, there are so many smacks who drive M3's and don't even know the half of it. It's really bad.

i guess u could say i was annoyed as hell(explains why i even got into this kinda mess driving my car 140mph+ on a public freeway) in the first time...then i was laughing pretty hard when he was flexing his arms after the runs...
