I've hit my rev limiter quite a few times and I thought it was around 6800-6900 rpm on my 2k 5-spd. If its 7000 rpm on the 6-spd 2k2, then that kicks a**. The 2k2 keeps sounding better & better.
Paul have you tried to get a 1/4 time on your car yet?

Ok, i know i have an auto but hey at least it'll give y'all some ideas. I'm scheduled for my dyno run this P.M.
I'll try to get the stats up tonight or early tomorrow

I bet fuel cut is really 6500-6600rpm like the VQ30DEs are. Your tach is just off, however a shift light would give you the real deal though

Yep. I did run it this past Friday. 14.7 @ 97. I think I can improve upon that though. Since I haven't driven a stick in a long time, I couldn't get my launch down. My 60 ft times were awful. 2.3-2.6. I was doing better with my older automagic in that regard. Also, I was shifting too early. Coming home from the track I discovered that my fuel cutoff is much higher than the advertised 6500. Also... I had more gas than I wanted (1/2 tank). I went to the track at the last minute. Usually I plan it a week in advance and show up with my fuel light on. LOL. My 280 lb body doesn't help either, but there's no quick solution for that. That will be a long term project. I plan to go back soon and shift higher. I also plan to slip the clutch a little. I couldn't bring myself to do it at this last outing.
I have no doubt I can achieve 14.5. If I can improve my 60 ft times and shift higher, low 14's are possible.

higher the RPM before shift the better potential to get into your "fat" part of the powerband, and have better acceleration times.
However you must experiment with your shifting and know what your "fat" part of the powerband is to have Maxximum Acceleration..

The SE-Rs are known for this, and the Maximas as well for 3rd gens, I am sure 4th and 5th as well.
Hmm, it look's like shifting at 6500 RPM in each gear would be ideal. If you look at the dyno chart {above} the power peaks at about 5400 RPM and holds strong until 6000, then it dips a little bit and bounces back up tp peak power at 6500 rpm. This is good, I would love to see a chart with a intake and a Y-Pipe, I bet the peak power would easaly go all the way up to redline{what ever RPM that is?}. The 2K2's power band does not drop off like a 4th gens..
I remember my previous automagic having a different dyno plot than the 5 speeds. Same basic shape, but all at lower levels. I wonder if the same applies to the 3.5 VQ. We shall see. Also, I'll see if shifing at 7000 RPM will affect my ET. If running it to 7K doesn't lower my ET, than it will become obvious about the shift points.

Paul now that you know you're baseline performance, what do you think it will take to break into the 13's? What mods and tricks will you employ?
