The Altimax are rebranded Gislaved Nord Frost 3. Exactly the same and both are made by Continental. It's a little dated in terms of design but the NF3 was one of the best tires during it's run. Still an excellent tire.

IF you cant go with the Blizzaks go for the Dunlops.

The General arent bad, if your into the more budget snow tire check out the continental conti viking contact 3..they are only sold in canada but they are a good snow!

I have Blizzak WS50's and im extremely happy with them, for the price i paid, you couldnt go wrong (75$ a tire new).

in order from best the not the best..in terms of snow/ice traction

Nokain Hakkapelita RSI are no doubt probably the best
Bridgestone Blizzak (LM22,25, WS50/60)
Dunlop M3
Continental conti viking contact 3

The last three id say would be tied for second they are all good, probably the best money can buy..
