Smoked 120a Fuse

Yesterday I jumped in the Maxima(2000 auto) and it was dead so I charged the battery last night and when I put it in today(at 5am) I got it switched around and popped the fuse(120A) that is on the + terminal. I have destroyed the fuse trying to get it out and it's still not out. I'll be correcting my mistake tomorrow but I have some questions:

1) How do I get that stupid fuse out?
2) A part number would be great.
3) This is the fuse to the alt correct???
4) If I can't get this fuse out or screw it up even worse, how do I bypass it until I can get it fixed?

There is a screw the runs through the bottom of the fuse that you need to remove before the fuse will come loose. It will not just pull out. The new fuse is u-shaped on the bottom so it is easy to put in and remove by just loosening the screw a little, but if it is the original fuse the screw has to be completely removed for the fuse to come out. I just called the dealer and told them it was the 120A fuse for a maxima and they knew what it was. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I saw the bolt in the middle but didn't figure it had anything to do with the fuse. I call a Nissan dealer and he said that they did not have 1 but that Infinity of Denver had one so I called and thet guy said "you do know that you called Infinity and not Nissan right?" What a ****. I didn't want to argue but I bet he could have found the part if I had said 2000 I30.

if you need the car to run until you get a new fuse, jump the two leads inside the fuse (basiacally make your own fuse) using a couple of strands of copper wire, it should do the trick. Oh and next time you jump a car, make sure positive goes to positive and negative to negative. GL

You will have to, basically, take apart the base of the positive terminal to get to the screws that hold that fuse in place. Once out, take it to any auto part store to be matched up. It is not a dealer-only item, just make sure it is 120a. I got mine at Autozone when I blew mine.
