Exhaust Leak in Flex Tube - Any Fixes?

Anyone have thoughts on how to take care of a small leak in the flex section of the y-pipe? Any experience with muffler tape or anything else?

Thanks!

You could always cut and weld in a newer one. At least thats what Midas told me.

Thats what I had a guy do to the y-pipe on my '96. It had a huge hole in it, so they just cut and welded another 1. It was a quick, cheap fix. I would sell it to you, but you don't live in NY.

That flex section is sold individually, but be sure it's inner lined....

Perfect excuse to get a y pipe if you haven't already.

yup thats what i did, my flex pipe busted and i was looking for a excuse to get y-pipe and headers so i did. I think it was $180 off ebay from SS Autochrome
The gains were noticeable but idk if it was worth it considering the pain off getting the rear header in.
I would suggest getting a warpspeed y-pipe so you dont have to remove the headers although not sure how how that works considering the front header is also a pre-cat. Also remember that you must sim the two secondary o2 sensors because you are removing pre-cats.

I've been hearing nothing, but good things about warpspeed y pipes and that's probably what I am going to get since I too have a busted flex pipe.

The only problem I have with mine is the "bees in can" sound. Its only when I go WOT so it isn't that bad. I'm happy with the gains and they really are noticeable in the mid-high range.

Then isn't there one without bee's in a can sound? Sorry but I hate raspy sounds. My friends car has a raspy sound and its annoying as hell.

I would consider adding a new y-pipe but don't care much about enhanced performance at this point. Do the after market y-pipes create more noise? I want it as quite as possible. Has anyone tried to use any type of exhaust repair tape?

See if you can find a used OEM Y-pipe with the flex section in good shape. That's the best way to remain quiet.

do you have stock exhaust? besides a y-pipe cause just a y-pipe and headers is gunna do nothing to the sound of your exhaust. because of your resonator and muffler unless you have some after market one.

That's probably what I'll end up doing.
