Long distance driving with CEL light on
Long distance driving with CEL light on
I have a trip to chicago coming up this weekend and I wanted to know if it would be a good idea to drive up there (181 miles, 3 hours of continuous driving) even though my CEL light is on (code: 0707 [02 sensor overheating]). I've been driving it for a while and it hasn't given me problems thus far (knock on wood
).
).

all i can say is if your 02 sensor is not working properly, worse it'll do is bad gas mileage. but however, you said its overheating...i'm not sure about that issue.
Is it 0307 or 0707 ( http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...de-0707-a.html ) ?
0707 is just the post-cat sensor, so no problem driving forever with it non-op. 0307 is B1S1, and will likely kill your MPG on the way to and from.

If it's only in a corner, then you should be looking at the wiring, most likely not the sensor itself or the cat.
thanks, i have been suspecting for a while that it is a wiring problem or problems with the sensor itself.
So I went to Chicago and came back. I only had 1 problem on the drive back and it was the speeding ticket I got for doing 80 in a 65 but the cop was decent about it since I told him I knew I was speeding but that I thought I was still in a 70 zone and didn't realize when the speed changed so he only put me down for 74 in a 65 ($75.00 tix vs. $300 tix)
I'm gonna ask Santa for a Valentine One next Christmas.
