93 OCTANE ISSUE
93 OCTANE ISSUE
My car maybe extra sesitive tio Premium gas. I can't run 93 octane gas in my car consistently because it kicks my Check engine light on. I run 2 tanks of 93 for every three tanks of 87 regular. My light eventually cuts off using 87. I did a seafoam treatment 5 months ago and that helped performance but not the check engine issue. Any help will be appreciated.
Put in some 89 or preferably 91 if your gas stations offer it. We get 87, 89, 91 and 94 here in Canada at the Shell. I put 91 in mine; I think 94 is a bit over the top, but you can cycle between one tank of 91 for each two tanks of 89.
I think Nissan recommends the 91. 94 is maybe a bit too much for the engine. I mean, it's not a Ferrari Enzo; it's a Maxima.

I went to advance auto parts and it was giving a bank 1 and 2 code and a O2 sensor code. The Advance guy said the O2 code looks as if the car does not recognize or see the O2 sensor and that is why it is kicking out the three codes. He suggest I have a mechanic look at my O2 sensors and make sure my wiring and connections are ok. He deleted the codes and I have a appointment Tuesday with Meineke. The check engine light has not come back since Friday so I will see how it does until my appt.
thats funny cuz ive been having the check engine light come on lately and i just switch to 93 octane gas a couple months back and i get the code p0440 and i heard its the gas cap but i always tighten after the clicks. could it just be bad gas cap?
E10 is not generally linked to a single fuel grade; a notable exception is Iowa with E0 87 octane and E10 89 octane fuels. If the mid-grade is E10, then the other grades should also be E10; mid-grade is customarily blended at the gas station from the regular and premium fuels.

the E10 89 usually is 87 mixed with ethanol, it brings up the octane.
