Car wearing it's winter coating.
So just like a good chunk of the country, the Seattle area has been dealing with a bit of snow. Well this weekend is my wife and I's anniversary. We had a trip planned to Lake Quinault Lodge, but of course didn't anticipate the snow (planned a few months ago). Well anyway, we decided to at least spend one night anyway. All I can say, I love how my car handles the snow. I didn't get stuck, didn't spin out, and I still made good time (trip averaged about 4 hours each way, normally 3-3.5 hours from Seattle). I did have chains and used them around my place a day earlier, but didn't have to use it for the entire trip.

My GXE sits in the outside parking spot, covered with a foot of snow. Poor thing.
The GLE sits in a drafty garage, and has braved the weather we've had lately with mixed results. The Fuzion HRi's were rated decent in snow traction, and mine are brand new... but they're 245's, so although I'm very experienced at FWD winter driving, this width is taking some learning... like lane changes on snowy highways and figuring out when tire width & lots of new tread is a good thing vs when it's a bad thing in these conditions...

I recorded one, but wasn't going very fast, and there wasn't a lot of snow.

ebrake slide is fun, but it's not a "drift". In a FWD car, the only way you can "drift" is in reverse
watch this video. It starts with a Jeep (check out the 0:50 mark!) but there is a maxima doing some actual "drifting" starting at about the 2:50 mark....

mine are nothing special....the maxima is a bit big to have fun with in the snow.

I don't get as much snow as some of the pics above being in NY, but we do get a bit. With my Dunlop Winter M3's the Maxima has been unstoppable. Its amazing what a diff. winter tires make.
The ONLY good reason for FWD.....
if not choosing AWD.....
But what a blast it is to enjoy the 6 spd. in snow.
