Umnitza angel eye start up issues?

Hey guys, I just installed a set of angel eyes in my car. I believe they are the older predator thinlines (kit was bought by a member here that was never installed). One of the rings got damaged, but it was replaced. I tested everything and all components worked before install. I installed everything, went to install in the car. Immediately I had problems. Some rings wouldn't light up, or did, but were dim. Playing around with the connections, I finally got all 4 rings to work and they lit up fine. The 1 newer ring seems to be a slightly different color. Today, when I turned them on, 1 of the large rings will not light no matter what I did (swapped connectors, etc). The edges show some light, but the entire ring will not light. One side would turn on dim, but then light up if I cycle the lights.

I know people have start up issues with temperature (highs here have been around 32), and I figure this is exactly the problem I'm having, but I wanted to compare notes with others. Also I saw from the little bit I was able to get from search that Umnitza has some troubleshooting steps to try. However I can't find it on thier site. Would anyone have that info handy?

Are they CCFL ? if so they dont like the cold to much and take forever to warm up, if just the edges are lighted the ccfl tube may be bad or not enough power to charge it.

Yup, I believe they a ccfl. It's be a bummer if the tube is bad considering it was just installed. It was working yesterday. What could change that it wouldn't work now?

I can only get the inner rings to light up reliably. The one that stop working looks like it's completely dead now. Now the large ring on the driver side is having difficulties, and when it does light up, it's slightly dimmer than the 2 that work fine. Bah, I might just save up and get the LED ones. This is really annoying to figure out.

Check the plugs from the ballast to the rings.
Mine toasted after a few days.

What I'll probably do next is hard wire them. Those connections to the ballasts look pretty shady.

If they have cold start issues then just turn on your low AND high beams for a couple min to warm up everything.
