I35/I30T Headlights into 2001 I30

I know this has been done before and there is a DIY posted. But no where in the DIY it talks about the actual wiring.

I picked up a set of 01 I30T xenon headlights to install in my 01 I30. Everything is good but the two plugs for the ballast and ignitor. I know the ballast harness needs just a power and ground.

Does anyone know what the heck needs to be wired to the 3prong ignitor harness?

Attached is the picture. Thanks in advance for the help

That's actually not the igniter. I've only found it on some I30 xenon headlights, and I wonder if it's a carry-over from the foreign-market Cefiro headlights, as not all I30 xenon headlights and I35 headlights (that I've seen) have it. It's actually a connection, that, if we had the wiring and switch, we could control the level of the headlights from inside the cabin. The prongs you circled are connected a motor back in there that turns the vertical height adjustment screw.

The igniter is actually attached to the back of the low-beam portion of the headlight, and is wired to the ballast. All you need to connect are the wires to the ballast harness (power and ground). I don't know the wire colors off the top of my head.

PS - I got your PM, I'm just waiting until I have the right amount of time to devote to it

Thanks for clearing this up for me John! I was going nuts trying to find the info about that darn thing. As always local infiniti dealer was USELESS. I think I am set, because there is a red and black wire going to the ballast so I am hoping red is power and black is ground

Take your time on the PM. I was wondering where you been. I won't be moving until May 09 or so..

i have a question. ok so i have 2k i30 without the stock HID's but i have a kit i got fro operatic. so my question is if i just get the headlight assemply, and buy the right type of bulb, can i just use the same ballast and wiring and connect the bulb to the assembly and use it.

the reason is im sick having that crappy out put that send the light all over the road except where i would want it to be. projector retro's are kind of out of my budget and i dont want to attept one of them either bcus i dont have the tools.

Stock headlight assembly will work just fine. As will the kit ballast/igniter. You will need a D2R bulb, however. Additionally, you will have to come up with a way to cover/seal up the rear of the headlight where the low-beam is (as you can see from the photo, the OEM igniter does that job). It's not difficult...rubber seals, pipe ends, tupperware containers...just get creative for that.
