i never did an exhaust before until i just did it, i never swapped intake manifolds before until i just did it, i never changed a clutch before until i just did it, i never made an Emanage Ultimate harness before until i just did it, never swapped an engine before until i just did it three times in a few weeks.....moral of the story: JUST DO IT!
as long as you just read up on what you're doing, dont be afraid to do anything. if i ever get to that point of a project where im just lost or get afraid that i dont know what im doing, chances are i know how i got there so i just return everything back to how it was. but it never hurts to try something

+1 on the FSM...(it's in Pmohr's sig) it has saved me so many times...
Yeah, this car is the first car that I've done work on by myself. When you have a 10+ year old car, repair bills can add up REAL fast.
The last thing I got done by a mechanic was an O2 sensor...for $400. Then I found out how much it would have been to do it myself and nearly put my head through a wall.

Best way to learn is just do it. I don't know a whole lot about everything, but once I started working on stuff by myself and with the help of a few friends it all seems pretty easy.
Just learned how to change my brake pads just yesterday =)
Good Luck!

Haynes/Chilton do not compare to the FSM. If you plan on working on your car in the future, download it or buy a copy on eBay. It's well worth it and will give you many factory specs that the other manuals leave out.
Glad to hear you're finally dealing with your car issues by yourself, I just did a clutch job with a little help from an .org member and it really goes to show how easy these jobs can be if you have the right tools and the right knowledge.

Well ... first off, sorry you are having any problems. You can DL the FSM for free ... just search the .Org for the link. Not taking the time to pull the bookmark for you, sorry.
Next .... the title of this thread screams one thing to me. Do you know what that one thing is? hhaaahhha.... I'll fill ya in!
