Map Light

I searched and was unable to find anything, which is incredibly surprising. I can't believe no one else asked about this recently.

Anyway, does anyone know the bulb type/number for the map lights in the 97+? I tried finding a direct replacement at my local auto parts places but none of them had anything even close to the original bulb. I found one that fits and works fine, but it has a longer glass bulb to it (and consequently more of the light is "hidden") and it was only 4.9w vs. the 10w bulb I took out. It's a HUGE difference in brightness. I don't know what the original was, but the one I bought was an 1893 bulb.

So...anyone know by chance? It's not listed on Sylvania's website.

It's the two that are at the very front of the car on the headliner. Directly overhead of the center console, radio, etc. It uses two small bulbs that are 10w from the factory and I can't find any direct replacements.

No one sells them. I looked everywhere. You've gotta hit up the dealership for that bulb, probably going to run you about 3 bucks. Pretty dumb.

Or you could LED that ****.

I already have a nice package of 13,000mcd white LEDs on their way. Hmmm...good thought. That's a VERY tiny space to work, in, though. I'd probably have to take the whole assembly out of the car

That would be a great idea. Unfortunately we have no junkyards locally that have anything as old as a 4th gen (seriously).

I had to go to the dealership for mine, after leaving it on for a few nights without remembering to turn it off before getting out of the car. It cost me around $3.xx .

Many years ago I too had trouble finding the correct wattage bulb when I needed one of these. Out of desperation, I went to the dealer service dept. expecting to get ripped off, and they just gave me a couple (no charge).
