ok so i was driving home today and when i was about to pull to my driveway i can hear this sound like im dragging something. so i pulled in and looked under the car and i see something that look like mesh hanging from the exhaust. so i put the car in reverve moved it a little and it broke off.

i think its the cover for the main cat from what it looks like. it was in the middle part of the exhaust from what i remember.

so my question: is it important to have it and is it a cover for the cat or maybe its part of the resonator?

the car is a 00 i30.

 

i think what your talking about is just a cat rock shield...and no its not really important imo unless you drive offroad or somewhere where there is crap everywhere in the roads
