What kind of gas do you put on your Max i put premium (91 here in cali) is their a difference i know it says premium recommended in the fuel area just wanted to know what you guys put and if you noticed a difference in driving

Some say there is no difference, Most however feel that there is a difference and have tried using a lower octane fuel (87) after using higher octanes and have been disgusted. So moral of the story, stick with 93 (or 91 in your case) where I live its a 10 cent difference from 91 to 93. so why not spend the extra $1.60 and get the best possible?


Plus switching octanes isnt good either, pick one and stick to it.

AU CONTRAIRE, Mon Ami. I have been very satisfied with 87 octane and so has my car. I've got better things to do with my money than waste it on high performance gas for driving on low performance streets and highways.

 

91/93 (mostly 93)

I just stick with race gas all the time. Good for the o2 sensors.

 

Usually I put in 87, but this past tank I put in 93 and what a difference! The max feels like it has more power (although it could just be in my head).

 

when u put 87 you rob yourself all around power response econmy..if put nothing but 93 shell v power in my max and every now and then i get a little bottle of lucas fuel injector cleaner and octaine boost to keep every thing clean it really helps

I have worked for and now consult to North America's largest oil/gas pipeline company. Most of the gas you get in the N.E. US is transported by them from Canada. Pipelines carry a variety of products and it is important to the pipeline to know exactly what is being pumped into it. To that end, they sample and test most batches going into their pipeline and have the right to stop and refuse products that are too contaminated (Water, acids, H2S). Most higher grade products (89+ octane) have clean records, whereas regular grade products have been stopped for having too much water or other crap in them.

The point of this post is that yes - clean regular fuel works fine in our Maximas, but you are at a higher risk of having injector and corrosion problems down the road.
