Installed HU, no sound?
Okay. my stock BOSE head unit was going out, it would constantly turn off the antenna / lose station signal. now. I wired all the wires correctly but it doesn't seem to play any sound. there is an AUX and SD Card input which I will try later tonight but I have a diversity 2 input / 1 output nissan antenna adapter to a european reverse antenna adapter (euro HU) am I supposed to plug something else into the diversity? could only find 1 thing plugged into the stock radio.
thanks.
Will Aftermarket HUs not work with our speakers?
thanks.

aftermarket head units wont work with our speakers, no.
unless you wire the audio outs to the individual speaker wires (I think).
each bose speaker has an amp at the speaker, so pushing amp'd power to the speakers from the head unit could very well fry the speakers/amps, causing no sound.

I know that at the amp the thinner 2 wires are the speaker signal from the H/U
I have 4 wires coming from the door. Orange, Black, Yellow and Purple (yellow and purple are twisted). they are all the same size cable unfortunately.
which ones do I feed the speaker
and when drilling for new 4x6s. do I drill the door? or the plastic box that holds the speaker + amp? thanks

NEW SPEAKER INFO
Check out my speaker replacement page for install instructions.
Here's what Matt Blehm (a maxima audio expert) said about wiring the speakers for the Non-Bose (ACTIVE SPEAKER) components.
once you remove the amp, you'll have a connector with a dozen or so wires. the ones you need to connect are:
Large/ Small
----------------------
Green/ Black-pink
Yellow/ black-yellow
Orange/ Orange
Blue/ Light Green
For particular left/right speaker identification, James Lofton (Jaybird180) supplied this info for me recently.
Yellow L+
Yel/Grn L-
Green R+
Lg Orange R-
These are the same wires you unplug from the amp. just cut them about 2-3" away from the end of the connector, so you can reconnect the amp whenever you sell the car. There will still be a few wires left on the connector (power, ground, etc) just leave those connected to the thing, that way you don't have to worry about loose power wires hanging around back there. It will all seem a lot clearer when you get back there inside the trunk. btw, the easiest way to do this is to just grab a handfull of butt connectors and get on your back inside the trunk. just leave a leg hanging out so someone doesn't come along and shut you in!
As for BOSE speakers,
if you look at the amps, there is a connector going in that has 4 wires going in for each amp, there should be 2 of those wires that are larger -one black ground and one red power for the amp the other 2 wires going into are the speaker signal wires; they are differnt colored stripes for each side, but in general the white/any color stripe is +, and black/any color stripe is - on one of the speakers the wires are red, black big ones (amp + and -) and white (no stripe), black(no stripe) thinner ones (speaker + -), just be sure to use the thinner black wire...
so basically you need to splice the speaker +,- wires (the thin ones) from the harness into the +,- of your new speakers and that's it then when you wire the harness to the head unit, just use the normal harness you can buy from Best Buy, Crutchfield or wherever and wire the radio according to the colors it tells you (match the radio's +12V wire to the harness +12V, radios front right + speaker to harness front right + speaker, etc)
Good luck

Just tested it out. made a guess. because I didn't have stripes on my wires.
for anyone in the same conumdrum. I'm posting this if your DOOR WIRES are the same as mine
YELLOW IS POS. PURPLE IS NEG.

From: Norman, OK until the Maxima of Malice works 90%
I am having the same issue, but I ordered my HU from ctruchfield along with the harness adapter gizmo (Scosche Factory AMp Interface OEA-4) that claims to allow an after market HU work with the Bose speakers. My connections are solid but i get no sound. I started up with the gizmo's levels on low so I have no idea what to think.
My maxima of malice had 2 -10's and a cross over (hooked up to the factory Bose) I removed before install but I don't see any wiring issuses. I'm hoping to find pics of the stock harness to compare mine to.
Any help would be appreciated.
Maxima of Malice fun fact: I am on my fourth auto climate control unit, it is not possible to get one that works 100%

I would recomend wiring around the bose amps. it's a pain. but it'll help you when you want to install aftermarket speakers in the future. depending on your wire colors you're going to have an internal amp and you're going to have to take the cable going to the amp and splice it with the plug + 2 of the cables coming from the plug. i had purple / yellow for neg / pos. you might have something different
and I recently broke my comfort control temp ****. it will not slide on its axis anymore. I really want the auto one from the rare GXE but finding one is gonna be hell. installing is a whole different story. I could really care less about the auto - ness. I just want a digital one because the manual's plastic tracks are doomed for failure.... and I'm guessing we can't use a different vechicle's

1. it's a piece of cake to wire around the bose amps.
2. when installing an H/U and trying to keep the original bose amplified speakers you need to make sure that you wire BOTH blue wires on the adapter harness up. (antenna and AMP turn on)

I bought an adapter to make things easier to hook up. everything went well except I'm not getting any sound but my after market HU is powering up.
Searched and found your post, so I wired up the blue(antenna) and there was another blue/white?*(bose amp?) with a black wire on the 6-pin.
The blue and blue/white?* I wired them to the 12v ignition and the black wire to the ground.
I am still getting no sound from the speakers.
*The wire is two colors, one is blue the second I think it's either white or yellow can't remember
There is also a orange wire that isn't used, but the diagram says its for illumination. Which I don't need.
Also the stock HU was working before taking it out for the new one.

ok, I have two 6x9 after market lying around here. I'll install those in the back.
I'll just unhook the front ones for now since I'm low on cash.
I'll look up how to bypass the amps for the back. thanks!

I took the bose rear speakers out, came to install new 6x9 which didnt fit. needed longer screws. Had to take most of the back out to be able to remove the plastic that holds the speaker to change the screws. Was a pain in the *** to do.
Anyways, After the new speakers in I just bypassed the amps. Which was really easy and took me 5-10mins.
Sounds really good now. Too bad I only had two 6x9 laying around. I will buy 4 new 6x9 when summer comes around.
Now I got two rear bose amps w/speakers and bose hu lying around here. Might sell em, anyone know what I could ask for? they were working before I took them out. And will be having the front amps/speakers out this summer.
