Above is a dynograph from my all STOCK 1998.5 Ford SVT Contour w/ 80k Miles. I ran 2 runs with a new OEM Paper Filter, and then 2 runs with a new AMSOIL Ea Nanofiber Stock Replacement Filter. What you will notice is the 6 peak HP gain at 6200 rpms, and the 8 ft-lbs of torque at 3500 rpms! Quite a difference just from replacing a filter!

I was so surprised by these results! I was actually expecting to see a decrease in HP and TQ thinking that to have superior filtration you'd have to give up something.

As I did more research and thinking on the subject, I realized that they have the ability to control the construction of these filters to the nano/micro level. This give them higher control on the homogeneity of the pores in the media, unlike paper/pulp filters which have very non-homogeneous pores, which would likely result in more turbulent airflow.

Also as you go towards the nanoscale you expose more surface area, and have larger overall area for air to pass through!

So, is there an in cabin air filter for the 5th gen Maxima? If so, how much is it?

Edit: No, I see from AMSOIL's website there isn't an Absolute Efficiency in cabin filter...

 

They have a WIX filter available for the Cabin, I have had one customer purchase the Ea panel replacement and the WIX cabin air filters for their Maxima and Murano. The Ea typically is only used in regards to the engine filtering (lubricants and air).

Hey Brian we should try one of these filters Vs. the Apexi I have on my Max. The Apexi is pretty old and is in need of a replacement. Maybe sometime this spring we can meet up at New England Dyno and try it out.

I'm posing the question here because others might be interested. I'm looking at the specs here:

and just wanted to confirm that the "Flange ID" is the internal diameter of the part that actually connects to the MAF tube, while the "Base OD" is just the diameter of the bottom of the cone, for lack of better words.

Yes that is correct. The "Flange ID" is the portion that would connect to your intake system or MAF Flange. The "Base OD" is the diameter of the end of the filter media.

A little late to the party, but...



I swapped out my Apexi/Frankencar intake for one of these Amsoil filters and a HT Performance MAF adaptor. Gains are good all around, im happy with it. Also the HT adaptor is better designed than the Frankencar in that it's less complicated and lighter. The Amsoil filter is larger than the Apexi yet this setup is lighter by a pound or so.

The graph is SAE corrected and was done in 4th gear.

 

Looks like some great gains just from the filter and maf adapter Joe!

This nano-fiber technology really helps in more ways than Just better filtering.
