Is $28000 a good price for 09 SV Max with sport package?
Is $29000 a good price for 09 SV Max with sport package?
Hello. I sent many e-mails out talking to dealers for the 09 Max. I want a silver SV with the sport package. MSRP is around $35000. I got a reply from one of the dealer and he said he can sell it for $29000. Is this a good price or I should go lower in this poor economy? Is the SV + sport package good enough? I'm not really interested in the tech with nav. Any advise welcome. Thank you!!!

Has to be either a demo, a used car, a misunderstanding, or the dealer is going under, and trying to get his hands on as much cash as possible as he closes. The only other option I can think of is that he may be laundering money for the mob.
To put it more bluntly, even with hidden incentives, I don't see any way the dealer can get that car from Nissan for that price.
Just be aware.

Call him back up and record the conversation. Be vary clear on the price color options and Stock number of the car. Go down to the dealer and if they change the price or try a bait and switch that is illegal. I used to work at a Nissan dealer and they tryed the same thing with a customer. He recorded the conversation and had the stock number. In the end they had to sell him a brand new 07 pathfinder for 8g's under invoice and take the hit. It was so funny to see those A-holes get bent over for once.
Hello people. I'm talking with a lot of dealers here in NY. I got quoted between $28500 to $31000 for a 09 SV Maxima with sport package. I didn't even do any bargaining and some said will sell for about $29500. So $28500 isn't too good to be true or "bait and switch" like some of you said. You know in this kind of economy, we are the boss and dealers are like nothing. I checked my credit score from Ficos last week and got 759. Is it consider really good for buying a car? What is the lowest rate I can get for a 3 years loan with that score? Thanks!

As for asking about APRs for a car loan, you're better off looking at your local paper or other reputable news source to see what's available in your area. My killer loan here in Colorado may not be available where you live and visa versa. Credit scores aside, in this economy, lenders are going to look at a myriad of factors before giving out loans...

Bait-and-switch. I'm willing to bet money that's not the drive-out price. Either that or it's demo / used....there's officially a used market for 2009 Maximas now...I've seen them as low as $23,000, with mileage at next to nothing obviously.
Check the wording in his email....did he specifically indicate the vehicle was new? Or did he say something vague like, "I can sell you a 2009 SV for $28K?"

This deal, $28.5K for an SV + Sport is about $4-5K less than the best deal that existed one month ago. The previous prices made a mockery of list price as if it did not exist. It would not surprise me if Nissan placed more "hidden" incentives in the channel for the purpose of moving metal. We need a few more people to report such prices before we know if the Queens deal is real or just a scumbucket come-on.
Trilitai - They began selling this '09 back on June 26th, and some of the ones that sold in June or July could easily have 10K or more miles on them by now. Many folks that bought a new Maxima back then have lost their jobs, and are having to give it up. Such a car would sell for the price you have been quoted, or lower.
Even an '09 that has been used as a personal car by the dealer's sales manager for the last seven months or more, and which may have only a few thousand on the odo, could easily be sold for the $28K you were quoted.
But not a new '09 SV with Sport package and less than a hundred miles on it, unless there is something working here we don't know about. The dealer just can't get this car from Nissan for that price.

Bro. I am with the others. $28,000 for a SV Sport seems unreal. While saying this I must admit that i got an SV with a couple add ons (heated seats, blue tooth, spoiler) for $28,000 but the vehicle was a demo with 4,000 miles on it plus I traded in an 04 Altima SE with 107,000 miles in which they only gave me $6,500 for. I am sure that they made money off the back end which allowed them to let my Max go for the $28,000 mentioned above. I am willing to bet theat there are some strings attached to your deal but hey, I could be wrong. Please let us know how it works out.

Nissan just laid off 20,000 employees. Weather it was over seas or here in the states doesn't matter. They are lossing money in this economy! If the price of $28,500 is not real now it will be soon.
I just got my buddy a brand new 08 350z for 22k out the door. MSRP is 29k.
If you know how the system works, its very easy to get a car for rock bottom. Not to mention the fact that I also got him 15k trade-in on a 06 altima 2.5s with 60k miles.
Easy as pie. 28k seems low, go for it.

big pete i agree with you. its about knowing the system. also what your working with is a factor. a high credit score or blank check like i did. my mom husband sells yachts. it was actually funny to see him work and not actually be working. the car salesman was a rookie and really had no idea about maximas or the options. needless to say he got grilled and walked away with my car for a little over 18. i have a 08
what was the msrp on your car???
i was quoted $32.6 on a maxima sv sport with nav . msrp is $37.300...is this a goo deal?? from the sounds of it i sshould be able to get this car for like $30-31k??? any input would help.thanks

trust me they didnt take no hit selling that car for 8gs less they are getting the cars for nothing in the frist place
BTW- has anyone else noticed the OP has left the room?
While there's deals to be made out there, the language and assumptions in this thread are getting ridiculous. Dealers are not "getting the cars for nothing"--you can bet the wholesale price and financing for a fleet of Maximas is very costly.

I couldn't have said this any better.
You know....I'm gonna get flamed for this but... THAT'S TOO MUCH! They are still making good profit & there are more incentives built in, oh yes there are. Don't settle for "good"...get the best deal you possibly can. Ask the salesman if he met his quota for the month (he probably didn't) and tell him if he wants that commission, he's going to have to come down on the price. Intense recession is horrible for car dealers..don't give up!
I don't thnk you need your flamesuit on just yet. People are getting Maximas for good deals out there, but I wouldn't underestimate the power of the dark side...er, the power of dealerships in negotiating prices. There are so many layers of marketing to go through and it's difficult to know if a deal posted on this board is similar to what anybody else can get. Different states, different deals (trades and such) and different dealers (some who may be desperate to drop inventory).
What I've observed is that Nissan is taking a 'wait and see' attitude to the current recession. Rather than the 'fire sale' marketing of GM or Chrysler dealers (discounts on top of employee-only pricing, gimmicks, etc), Nissan has slashed production to better meet demand. They're also relying on the quality of their products to speak and the Maxima is a good example.
I'm not giving up, but rather than attempt to pressure some poor saleman or woman (usually the lowest paid and least knowledgable), I'd rather exercise some patience. Also don't want to have the tables turned on me when I get serious about buying my wife's new car! I'll shop around to see what's in inventory and what the current pricing around the country is. The biggest factor may be any future factory-to-dealer or consumer incentives that may be in the works. I want a great price AND a great buying experience!
