spring rubbers to stiffen your spring rate
spring rubbers to stiffen your spring rate
I was wondering if anyone has played around with adding spring rubbers to their cars. Basically what they do is go in between the coils of the spring and depending on the softness of the rubber and the amount (full, half, 1/4) it adds to the spring rate. FOr example a 310 lb spring and then add a spring rubber which ups the spring rate to say 350. Has anyone tried this. I was actually thinking of playing around with this once i got my illuminas
While it certainly will add to the effective spring rate, it will do so VERY abruptly. Not linear, not progressive....abrupt.

i figured ppl were always complaining that this spring or that sopring isnt stiff enough or they bottom out and it would be a cheap easy mod that can also be reversed in minutes if they didnt like it. It wont actually make it more abrupt than a spring that is made stiffer than one wit hthe rubber in it. I have 600 lb spings in my 68 camaro and it woke the handling and ride up greatly without being rough. I dont think any maxima spring is close to a 600 lb spring.
