My Results at Atco Import World Series! ran 14.329@95.61 personal best

hey guys i just want you all to know that i'm trying to hold my own in a field of super hyped up hondas, toyotas, RX3s, VWs you name it, i probably ran against it. i was trying to set a new personal best and succeeded in doing so. on one of my qualifying runs i ran that 14.32 with 2.168 60'. on the first rd of brackets i ran against one of those loud @ss RX3s or toyota starlets. i won despite missing 3rd gear (15.0). second round i think i beat my teammates white celica GTS with clear hood. the next round i took out my team leader with the yellow honda civic. i got a .549 RT and ran 14.60@91.71mph backing off. next round i ran up against another loud starlet or RX3. i beat him because he malfunctioned. i backed off the last bit of the track to a 14.525@89.40mph. that puts me in the quarter final round against this old VW jetta with VR1 swap. he dials in a 13.51 to my 14.37. i beat him off the line with a .603 light (his was .773) i have him by a car length to the top of my third gear (approximately 4,500rpm wasn't looking at the tach) almost to the finish line when my fuel cut off!! i was pretty upset. the car would not rev past 5,000rpm or so and i had to shift into 4th! did this ever happen to anyone? maybe it's due to the fact that my last run was only 10 minutes before and the ECU wanted to protect the engine or i only had a gallon or 2 in my fuel tank! i had the guy beat except for my car quit on me. he ran a 13.60@98.36 and i lagged across the line with a 14.711@85.32mph. maybe next time i will win it all for maxima.org pride and teamflipspeed! sorry guys..at least i came home with some money though.

Refresh my memory, what are your mods? Or better yet put them in your sig hehe.

Last time at the track I made 4 runs in 14 minutes, and I didn't have any problems with my ecu doing weird things on me. I have no idea what happeend with your last run.

It's your fuel cutting off becuae you don't have enough in the tank..and the pump can't get enough of it...I have this happen to me when I get really low on fuel and rev the car up high...it's cuts out...put some more fuel in the tank and the problem should go away no problem.

how come our sigs don't show up anymore? saving some bandwidth? anyway, 97 GXE 5speed with: jim wolf cone filter, budget 304ss ypipe, fstb, rsb, AGX adjustable shocks, eibach springs, 95SE wheels, bfg compta HR4 touring tires set at 16.5psi@front and fuel down to about a gallon and a half. i guess i ran a "theblue time" as someone put it because i had no other passenger seats or trunk lining i ran out of fuel pressure due to an empty tank? thought so! bummer, the payout was $1000! oh well, i took out two of my teammates on the way to the quarterfinal. two more wins and i would have been the champ. can't win 'em all.

Good runs, but do me a favor and put a little more gas in your car next time. Running with 1.5 gallons is insane. Everyone is correct in saying your fuel cut out simply because you didn't have any. This is extremely bad on your fuel system in two ways. You're overheating the fuel pump simply because it uses the gas to cool itself, you didn't have any fuel. Running a nearly empty tank forces all the random crude to collect in the bottom of your tank and get sucked into the fuel lines, filter, injectors, and motor. Not a good thing. Gas is relatively light (~8lbs), so run a little more next time or you might be staring at a $500 fuel pump bill.

BTW, what's up with all this "Riceboy" gutting like removing seats and such We're driving Maximas, not Hondas j/k

i've thought about this a number of times. almost a year ago i had a pump seized. i took it to the dealer and they charged the expense (over $600) to the mobil company since there was a recall at that time for any toyota or nissan make using their premium grade. they told me that an additive they have been known to use had seized my pump. i didn't ask any further questions since i understood i was getting my repair free of charge. i admit i do have a tendency to run my tank close to empty, but doesn't the sediment get splashed and dispersed on a full tank as well? i think that if the pump is gonna seize it's gonna seize. it's been about a year now, i haven't used mobil premium since, but that's probably just my fuel superstition.

i don't know the science, but I run faster with a little under a 1/4 of a tank... i have his the rev limiter when I was on empty and it sucks

impressive

VQ, 14.3 with intake and y-pipe, that is awesome. Were there any other little things that were done to get the time? You mentioned empty tank, specific tire pressure etc.

You have Jim Wolf intake and some budget SS Cats? Who made those? Obviously you chose these 2 over competitor's products. Can you explain your decision process via private mail? Thanks

the high pressure fuel pump from Walbaro is $119 that lets you run NOS and FI no problems
