Now onto my questions. 1) Not pictured are my rims whixh I will hopefully be installing this week and they are some 17's with a 235/45-17 tire and I was wondering if I go with a 2" drop will they rub? the rims are 17x7.5 and the offset is 40. 2) Where do I find the paint code for my car?

Going with an eibach kit I had rub issues running 235/45/17's. Slight rubbing, but rubbing none the less. Roll ur fenders maybe?

looks good, like the headlights

for the color # a guy told me to just go ask a nissan dealership for it. i was going to install a body kit on my 92 (decided not to yet though) and i would need the color # to paint.

i havent asked a dealership yet but if anyone by chance knows the color # of the light brown/goldish 92 maxima's and can PM it to me i would appreciate it

Paint code is on the silver plate located on your firewall near the brake booster line.

don't count on the paint matching if your paint is 17 years old.

really, I was looking at this thread http://forums.maxima.org/3rd-generat...x-tockico.html and there seems to be plenty of room especially since intrax drops the front 1.7" and a 235/45-17 tire is slightly smaller than oem

spacers?

i m running 300zx rims and they were rubbing on rear like krazy. i had to put 25mm spacer on rear well i dont really need 25mm spacer 18mm would do it....but on front theres no problem at all with factory height....however, if i lower it i will probably have to use 25mm on rear and maybe 10mm on the front with these rims cuz they r +45 offset lol...16x7.5

Rims with the wrong offset will rub regardless of drop...do some research dude, you're really starting to look like a real idiot with all these stupid questions....

How about buying wheels with the correct offset?? this if not really hard to do ya know...114.3-x5 35mm(optimum) offset wheels= a whole *** load of tire size options..

correct tire/wheel/offset info for these cars is all over this forum, look around...

ugh, i had a girlfriend like you once ... 'cept she was a girl

anyhow, wheels have 5 critical measurements/specs: height, width, offset, lug pattern, and center bore size.

stock is 15", 6" (GXE) or 6.5" (SE), 35mm, 5x114.3mm, 66.1mm

after fixing my front suspension so i could finally hold an alignment, i decided to upgrade to 17" wheels.
  • Originally, I rubbed the fender with 17x7 rims on STOCK height with 225/50/17 tires.
  • Now i run 17x7 rims on stock height with 225/50/17 tires, and no rubbing.
(look like the same specs? so far, they are). the difference is my old rims had +22mm offset, and my new ones have +38mm offset. so they came back in by 16mm. i could even drop 2" (which you'd find me dead before you found my car dropped 2", but i COULD) with no rubbing. that sir, is a true story.

so you gotta have all the pieces of the puzzle to know if it's gonna fit w/o rubbing.. just like greeny said (a few times). if you can't respond with an offset figure, then we can't help you.

5mm should be enough to keep you off the rear struts.

spacers r are always gonna work no matter wat so if u wanna keep the rims with slammed max then u gotta need to put spacers and 25mm on rear and 10mm on front atleast plus maybe get ready to roll fenders on the rear......i m on stock height with 25mm spacers on the rear and nothing on the front....and these r 300zx rims with +45 offset as i explained above....if i lower my max then i m gonna either have to roll my fenders on the rear cuz my rims sticks out they r gonna hit the fender (which is kinda looks kool ) or i will have to find the EXACT spacer to put on the back so they wont rub...inside or outside which not really goona happen but i havnt measured it yet so cant say anything....so can u list ur rims specs with pics? spec mean everything...

i will try to find the pic i took of my max and it exactly shows how far they sticks out on the rear with 25mm spacers...

i will recommend not to put spacers unless u have no choice left and only put hub centric spacers...not cheap ones from some local autoparts store which is gonna destroy ur lug nuts thread pretty badly...trust me i have gone through this....ONLY HUB CENTRIC SPACERS....safe as u have wheels on ur Hub....

Well I'm glad someone else posted about this so I didn't have to start another thread.... Offset is where you need to be concerned... And if you're going with a wide tire such as 235 or 245 then you will most definitely have to roll your fenders in order to avoid rubbing with such a steep drop.

Here's why I say such things.... 4dsc.com has some useful info on mustang rims and clearance... they say 17X8 rims with 235/45/17 are a "perfect fit" with no rubbing issues on a lowered maxima... "perfect fit" yes... they fit on the car no problem... do they rub with a moderate drop? (B&G Springs with Tokico Struts 1.6" drop) LIKE A MOTHER!... So the info is not wrong... but missing some valuable tidbits, such as what drop did they people that tested this out use?... So my suggestion to you is follow what everyone is saying about the offset (33-35 optimum) but if you're running wide tires don't be pissed at everyone because you dropped $600on tires when they rub.... You've been told.
