New times

so seeing that i post my good times im gonna post my personal worst.... so i got off work a lil early today so i said why not just swing by the track and get a completely stock run in (shouldnt have)... after waiting for hrs while some dude fell off his bike and every car spilling oil down the track its finally my turn... pulled up to stage, the light didnt work so i had to back up, when the lane tech (just made the title up ) told me to back up she kept swinging her hand left so i moved to the left of the lane (taking me out the grooves) so i spun literally off the line, i was at redline in second with my rear wheel just breaking the line ET 18.1@82......... so im pissed so i though i'd give it another go, which turned out to but my last after every other car broke down, went in the other lane, spun even worst, never caught traction going anywhere over 30mph... started spinning through whatever gear the car was in (IDK it was just wilding out downshifting and shifting) i let up off the gas till the car was going about 15mph, tried again and sure nuff it started spinning, this is now 1/8th the track... i was so pissed i didnt even want my time slip i just drove by... if i was to give an ET i'd say 20.xx@25mph i just drove regular the rest of the way till i got home ... i was in a auto 02 GLE with 00 GXE 16's... bone stock... any advice on how to get a factory car off the line (auto at that.. i thought just drive n gas would do but i guess not) but let the bashing begin... thats my day at the track....... last til summer n im just about done with that track

Keep it in 1 when you leave the line, once your going i just put it back into 3.

The problem with leaving it in drive when you leave the line, if you do get spin, it always shifts into 2nd if you let off, so once i get going i just throw it into third and let the car do its job. on stock RE92's with about 50% left on them i managed a 2.3 which isnt good, but not bad.

16.2? From an SRT-4! What the ? I remember that I had a horrible run once. I spun past the 60 ft mark, I was spinning so bad I quickly shifted into 2nd. At that point I was still spinning badly, so I shifted into 3rd gear. I ran a 16.9 @ 80 mph. I so gave up that run and lost to a bone stock Saturn Aura LOL!!!!!!

it was literally the worst time i've ever had at the track... it was terrible, ill give it a shot next go around, im just gonna throw on my bad coilovers n see if that would keep the car down a lil better also, but now that wouldnt be considered a stock run now would it???

Sounds like my first run down the dragstrip in my Chevelle after a cam change. 2.56 open rear end and it spun the right rear all the way through first gear. Ran a 16.96 @ 95. Next run wasn't much better, 16.90 @ 96.

Stay out of the water and ease into the gas.

Geeze! You guys are talking about spinning 1st 2nd and 3rd gears like nobody's business. Are your Maximas really throwing down that much power to the pavement or is this a really slippery track? Unless I launch over 2500RPM I don't even spin first in my max.

for me, is not that my maxima makes great power, (im stock) its moreso a track issue combined with the fact that i have stock suspension so at WOT i have so much front end lift that there is very little weight on my wheels so the spin like crazy

x2,

i cant use my nitrous in frist because as soon as it hits i completely lose traction but when i flip the switch in second i never have any traction issues

4.17.09- went to to the track again to improve on my terrible 18's and i was moreso there to work on my launch rather than a PB, i must say i am satisfied, not that happy but satisfied...

1st run- right off the highway
RT 1.280
60' 2.478
330 6.684
1/8 10.094
1/8mph 72.95
1000' 13.022
1/4 15.565
1/4 mph 88.20.......... the reason my times were so bad is the fact that i didnt even power brake, let off the gas and brake and let the car roll a lil off the line then ease into the gas (im at a srry track and i refuse to go down the track spinning again)

2nd run 20min wait if that
RT .999
60' 2.336
330 6.474
1/8 9.858
mph 73.23
1000 000
1/4 15.249
mph 90.64 Trying so hard to not spin im willing to sacrifice a lil time hence my low MPH

3rd run 3hr break
RT 8.25
60' 2.291
330 6.385
1/8 9.717
mph 74.39
1000 12.583
1/4 15.023
mph 92.71......... power breaked at 1000rpm and half throttle off the line then ease into it... im happy to see the time that i got because clearly with a better track and stock 17's the car is in the 14's... i have the 5 spoke 16" 00 GXE wheels with probebly 50% tire thread so i blame myself with traction also... current mod 4th gen ebay short ram with a rigged maf adapter (only two screws hand tightened)... i was just glad i wasnt spinning half way down the track like the last time... matter of fact i never spun not even a bit

Same here. VQ35 and not enough tire stock (225/50/17 isn't nearly wide enough to get decent traction) and no LSD means nasty wheel spin.

Nice time on that run. Those "straight off the highway" times are alway my worst too. Good job compensating for the bad track.

i couldnt tell ya why i spun like that (really i could... bad track) but when you leave the line and your seeing smoke coming up the side of your passenger window says a lot... you gotta remember that im on stock suspension with 16" 00 GXE wheels so when my front end lifts, thats spin city

well if it was, it was done well, it had the same stance, body, aero, turbo, everything to make it look like an SRT-4... but cant the same be said of me also, auto maxima's are 14.7-14.9 stock with the average driver but i did 18.1 dudes falling off there bikes and all kinda shananigan's kinda explain the night
