Clicking under e-brake?

Any reason I would be hearing a clicking a couple of times 2-3 mins after starting the car from the e-brake location or under the shifter? it sounds like the shift lock release but i'm not sure. All occurs in drive.

sound like the shift lock may be shorted, my 91 did it intermittently when i had some battery issues. im still not convinced it was the cause but it stopped after i fixed the terminals

mine used to not work, and then sometimes id would go mental and click really fast for a few seconds, then stop working again. replacing the green box in the kick panel (shiftlock control unit) fixed the problem for me. interesting side-effect post-5spd swap: now the box clicks every time i activate my brakelights. which is cool so i know if i'm stepping on my brakes hard enough to light up the lights or not (or if i'm flutterin the lights, etc).

anyhow, try getting another one of those. i know for a fact that nc90gxe has one for sale, cuz i just did his 5spd swap last weekend.
