How To: Change Mirror Blinkers To White

Here's a tutorial I made for the members who retro fitted the 09 mirrors in their cars and want to change the mirror blinkers from orange to white or whatever color they want.

Here's Your basic 09 mirror. From here you take a small (tiny) flat head screw driver and take off the faceplate. There is just clips, no screws holding it in.

Once the plate is off it'll look like this:

From Here your going to pull the mirror off towards you. There is clips on here as well but if you pull from the bottom and move up u'll be fine.

Once the mirror is off. You'll see the wires attached to the mirrors (if your mirrors come heated) if not they'll be no wires here.

more pix

This is the screw you need to loosen. This is what's holding the blinker on.

This is the harness for the lights. Just plug this out and your blinker will be disconnected from the mirror.

Now this is the same idea as the headlights. I put my oven at 220 degree's and once it reached that temp. you SHUT IT OFF. Then you can put the blinker in there for about 3-10 minutes. (I kept checking mine)

Once the glue/silicon warms up you can separate the blinker with your hands.

once apart you can see the four leds. These are PLCC-4 Leds. They are hard to re-solder to the board because of the angle but obviously possible. lol

Maxgal. Its a guy thing (mostly).

If something can be.... changed, improved, messed up, fixed, broken, taken apart, re-assembled, tweaked, modified, you will find a guy who will try.

I think it's genetic....

LOL, I thought I was the only person that felt that way about them. I always associated them with upscale cars, and here I am with them on my car now! But I can understand wanting to change them out because the LEDs in there aren't all that bright. I remember I was sitting at a light getting ready to make a left turn, and so was another Altima on the opposite side facing me, and I could barely see them. I was like "Thats what they look like!!! Thats it!!!" But Its really not that important for me to want to do all what was pictured. I have never been to fond of the whole bake your lights thing. I tend to forget things are in the oven.

And does anyone know if the light is visible to a person that is riding in the lane next to you, but behind you like on TSXs and etc.?

ImSooFlyy23, think VERY carefully about RED.

In many/most states, having RED or BLUE visible from the front of the vehicle is illegal and if you travel, you are subject to the laws of the states you travel thru.

Um, believe me, you just gotta trust me how I know..... hahahahaha It's NOT worth the ticket you WILL get. You won't be able to talk yourself out of that one....

Talking

White makes it look more clean as far as the brightness you have to get the correct LED style to give you maxima brightness. Also if you changed all you're other lights to LED then it just doesn't match, that's why we change it, getting a car is like a homework project you just want to have the best one A++

They're PLCC-4 LEDs and they have to be soldered in.
