Look what i FINALLY test fitted...

so its been awhile since i did this but just haven't gotten around to actually test fit them on my car. i still need to seal up the glass lens to the E36 housing and wire up the bi-xenon solenoid and adjust and bolt the whole assembly in place. but here you go guys:

what do you guys think???

thanks for your inputs.

ChrisMan287: the output is the same as the new BMW E60's cuz those are the projectors im using. apparently i failed to wait till it hit darkness so i snap a pic of it but i had to remove them since it was about to rain and i didn't want to get them wet cuz its still not sealed.

another thing that i forgot to mention is that i also have these CCFL angel eye rings i think 7000k and im still debating whether or not to install them or not? and i know that once i install these rings that would be it for them since i can't remove them in case one of them burns out once sealed in the headlight and it won't be a fun job to crack these headlights open again to remove these rings. so, what would you guys do? either install these super white CCFL's or leave them as how i have them in the pics without the CCFL's?

Leave it like they are in the picture. I think it probably looks better without them anyway, plus the added hassle if one burns out. My vote is don't bother.

very nice. i can't wait to put my own on... i need a job so i can buy the euro housing to get them ready. sadly yours are gonna be better than mine since mine are halogen only.

as far as the angeleyes... if you do angel eyes, use amber ones. then do the craig-brace corner re-wire and wire the angel eyes in parallel with the 194 bulb in the corner lamp. so they are parking lights unless you are signalling, in which case they are signals.

can't you just swap out the projector lens on yours? now this is why im debating why i should or should not go with angel eyes? there is always a flaw to these and in my case once i seal these up there is no turning back to replacing the rings if they burn out unless i come up with a way to get them through the back of the housing instead of cracking the lens open from the housing? i guess trial and error and see where it takes me if i do decide to go with these CCFL's?

well, if you go with LED angel eyes, they won't burn out, so you won't have to change them.

like others have said, looks nice!

yeah but i think your better off ordering a pair and just swap lens. of course its a minor modification but with patience. now you can order E36 headlights with projectors already installed and save the hassle of doing the projector retrofit like i did. but i really wanted real projectors not these aftermarket garbage that come installed, although some are really good.

well the angel eyes i had were built into the housing.. i dunno what i am gonna do with them once i replace the lowbeam on my setup from Goon with a HID-spec projector, but in the meantime until i get ahold of the proper HID materials i'm still going with the J30 ones.

I know I'm sort of hi-jacking, but I figure better here than a new thread, so here's my questions:

1 - Where did you get those clear corners?
Never seen those, they look sick

2 - Are the Euro spec lights the same as US in regards to location of park lights?
My park lights (both blown on my running vehicle, still good on my parts ') are in the main headlight assembly (I pulled to take pics, but only found 2 bulbs, does this mean one of the bulbs has 2 stages of light?)

I want to eventually do all clear head/corner lights, but am confused as to how much re-wiring and re-bulbing would be required to do it properly?

thanks, they use to have angel eyes but were crappy so i eliminated them and just got these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E...ht_2574wt_1233.

DanNY: i know it took me a long time but was really stopping and still is me debating whether or not to install the angel eyes?

Niccos89:
1. Clear corners i custom made them with the help of Hadley a.k.a. hadman. he was the one who did his like this as well and pretty much told me how to go about it. others have done the same like Goon but he did his as a 1-piece headlight with corner lamp which CapedCadaver now how in his hands.

2. you need to post pics of this because i still don't sort of understand how it would be in your main headlight assembly???

Cheers bud, I'll take some pics of the globes and the assembly with different lights on. Wont really matter though if I go all out and clears all round, I'll have angel eyes as parks in the front anyway.

Got a writeup on how the clear corners are done?

Your lights (assuming it's the same as UK) are running H4s with a 194 city light.

Someone who has done this project should maybe make a write up on how to do this mod. I think alot of 3rd gen owners would love to have these headlights. I personally would like to have a step by step how to do this project because i am very interested in doing this...

hm so the maxima glass lens is just laying there right now? How much of a gap is there from the lenses to sit on your E36 housings? Awhile back Michael posted some test fit pics of his - Some E36 and stock Maxima lens pics

I came up with an idea to make some sort of bezel that would take up that gap since ive been thinking about this same setup. Youd then glue or RTV or whatever the bezel on both ends to seal it all up. Just a theoretical idea, nothing concrete as i dont have an E36 light vs Maxima lens in front of me

you get the idea

why are you running bi-xenon if you already have hi beams?

with the angel eyes imo i wouldnt go for it on a maxima, BMW yes, but it depends on how much you want it to stand out

go here ---> http://forums.maxima.org/3rd-generat...dlights-3.html and you will see just about the same thing that Michael did with his. i trimmed down the inside lip of the E36 headlight to get the glass close enough to fit onto the E36 housing. now your idea about the adapter is really good but there will be more cutting involved in the brackets and possibly the radiator support which im trying to avoid. i really don't want to hack up my radiator support. but this is something i can keep in mind. for your adapter idea you can just get a junkyard oem maxima headlight and just cut the housing and try and mod it to the E36 housing.

as for the bi-xenon feature i really like it. thats just me. the highbeam side will be used for parking lights that way all 4 bulbs stay on. these projectors that im using are from an '03-'08 5-series so they come with the bi-xenon solenoid integrated onto the projector so if its there might as well use it.

still debating on the angel eyes???

Looks good Rick. Curios to see how well you were able to mate the Maxima euro glass to the Bimmer housing (before sealing). Got any pics?

Here's my old write up on the clear corners for those who asked.
