are the red-toppers style a () or style b ()?

if they are style a, they will not fit in a 93-94VG fuel rail (style b). i have both types of rails and one day test fitted to verify, and it is sad-but-true.

if they are style b, then i would think they are VE/VQ30DE injectors like i'm using. when i bought my 90, it had a 94 VG engine in it, including the style-b injectors (pink top tho), so it's very possible that the 91 you got injectors had the same thing, if they are also style-b.

those are 259cc VE/VQ injectors..... VG uses 180cc. i am talking to someone about this right now on AIM, and he says not to use anything but the proper VG injectors. too much fuel can cause oil washdown, hurting the engine. which, after 2k miles on 259cc injectors, i might have done cuz i have an engine noise as of tonight

style-b link fixed too. it had included the ")?" with the link instead of after the link

Here's something that may help you. Cut and pasted into a TXT file from an old post somewhere on the ORG:

Pink= VG30E injector

Red= VE30DE injector

You need the pink ones..IIRC the oem blue or black dot injectors have been superseded into one on aftermarket injectors, not sure on this, maybe brian will chime in with true/false.

89-92 VG injectors are the same. Both Blue and Black dot injectors were superseded to one part # at all levels when new. (used/rebuilt is questionable depending on supplier)
93-94 VG injectors are still in 2 seperate #'s (green and yellow)****
92-99 DOHC maxima all take the same injector.
89-94 VG are all pink topped****
92-99 DOHC are all red topped.

I have currently running in mine a mix of Green & Blue dots. In a few days I'll be putting in a Yellow dot. For some reason from what I found, the yellow dot Bosch is slightly cheaper than the green dot.

Here's one thing I don't get. There is a Bosch model that appears to have no dot but is listed as OEM for the VG. It's 45.00 more than the yellow or green dot. Don't know why.

that one is 89-92 VG, won't work in a 93-94 VG

VE injectors = VQ30DE injectors = VG30DE injectors = SR20DE injectors in terms of flowrate. several different sites said the same thing.

What are the actual differences between the Blue and Black dot ones (89 - 92 ),.. I never understood this, and could never get any info on this subject around here in my area ...

IIRC, it is spray pattern differences, nothing more..

Hmm... can they be interchanged and mixed on the same engine? I've got some newer ones on my old engine,.. and this "new" engine has old ones on it that are a bit rough and of a different color (Don't recall which one's were on which engine at the moment - Blue/Black...)

Thanks.
Rick

they were combined into one part # by bosch several years back. IIRC black is the universal one

Yeah, this injector stuff is ridiculous. I just replaced all my injectors. I had green dots. I went with Standard injectors because I got them for next to nothing (a friend is a parts manager ) and the injectors were pink with no dots. I said a little prayer before installing them. Thankfully they worked out but it's just ridiculous how it's so damn confusing. There should be some number that all parts should have, even aftermarket, pertaining to the engine/vehicle/etc. This shouldn't be so difficult. JMHO

Thanks to this site for the nice injector tutorial. It made it much easier knowing what I was in for and I was prepared for the job. Everything went smoothly.

This is confusing. I have a 93 GXE with pinktop /yellow dot injectors. I've seen 93's with pink top/ green dot injectors. I assumed the difference was the electrical connector, but both green and yellow dot have the same style B connector. Anyone know the difference between the green and yellow dot injectors? Can you mix and match? Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

All VE motors take the same injector which is originally red with no dots. Over time they sometimes turn pink but still work fine.

The thing you should be worrying about is the connector style on the VG's not the color! All 92-94 VG's had upgraded connectors that used the normal thumb release lever instead of that shi++y early style connectr with the lock pin around the base and required about 3 hands to remove!
