battery starting to go bad?
battery starting to go bad?
so I haven't drove the maxima for about a week because I been driving my new truck around and waiting for parts and garkets to get in and replace my knock sensor. I went to start it to relief fuel pressure and no start, the starter made funny noises so I took it off and went to parts store for the warranty replacement. I had literally 6 days left on the warranty. They tested it, and said it was good, but replaced it anyways and extended the warranty another year, so thats good.
I ended up jump starting the maxima and it fired up. let it run a while to charge battery. I know have the battery completely disconnected and Ive been holding my volt meter to it for a few minutes. The battery charge is dropping .01 volt every 2-3minutes. It was around 12.25 volts when I took it out. Now its around 11.89volts. Seems like battery isn't holding its charge basically, I just wanted to confirm.
Its an optima redtop battery I bought 5-6years ago. Could my big amp have just beat it up over the last 5-6years? Reccomendations for new battery? yellow top?

5-6 years is not a short life span for a battery depending on where you are.
I have had batteries last 3 yrs, another was 10+ before it died.
replace the battery with whatever you want, brand and price have become largely irrelevant with battery life (10yr old battery was from trak auto, 3 yr old was a Delco)
