how come when your playing music from ur music box where u record cd's to,you can not search thru albums while driving
..is there a trick or something im missing ? cause then when u come to a stop it lets you search...
if this is the case is there a bypass plug n play set up to get by this ?? kinda like the Navi, where u can change destination while your driving instead of stopping...

I personally havn't tried searching for an artist on the music box, I usually listen on shuffle or use the right **** to shift thru albums. That sure would be handy to do tho...
That stinking navigation lock-out really grinds my gears though.....
I can shift thru ripped CD's while driving, but can't do a "search" per se. I guess for all intensive purposes this type of interface is sufficient, but it would be nice to actually browse by artist or something. Mine does work as you described jacejax.

What makes this extremely galling is that my wife and I are virtually always in the car together, and the one not driving handles all audio/HVAC/etc functions. But this 'safety lockout' means even the passenger can't operate many music box/navi functions while the car is moving. This problem extends way beyond music. We need for the passenger to be able to find all motels, phone numbers, addresses, search, etc. We have gotten very frustrated with this every trip we take.

Blahhh it's so frustrating....
At the risk of getting flamed, I am of the opinion that, although it can be a pain in the butt, the lockout on these features is a good thing. There are way too many distracted drivers out there. Granted, there are many instances when you have someone else in the car who can be the navigator, but how many times have you had to maneuver to avoid getting hit by someone on a cellphone, someone texting, someone reading, someone putting on make-up, etc. Well, you get the idea. I'd like to see some stats on ther percentage of cars out there with single occupants. Althought somewhat unscientific, in my eye, it is most.

I don't know about the 2009 Max but my 2010 allows me to scroll through tracks and albums while the car is in motion both using the buttons on the center console and on the steering wheel; overall, I'm happy with the amount of functions Nissan allows you to do while driving; there are a couple of limitations of course, especially with the navigation while driving but even with the navigation system you still can do about 60-70% of things while driving or just use the voice recognition
Nissan/Infiniti nav systems I say are in the middle in regards to quality, amount of information stored, and what they allow you to do by voice or manually while driving the vehicles; the Nissan nav system is no where near as bad as the Toyota/Lexus nav; I test drove both a camry and RX350 and their nav systems basically locked you out of doing anything while driving, even if you had a front passenger; you couldn't even look up information about songs, destinations, etc while driving until you came to a complete stop
I understand the car companies do this for safety reasons but they should develop something so that when the passenger front air bag sensor detects a person sitting in the front passenger seat it unlocks the system completely so that as least your front seat passenger can work the nav system while driving; it sucks in the toyota or lexus to either have to wait till your stopped at a light or pull off the road to do anything!
overall, I'm pretty happy with the Nissan nav system, only complaints would be to improve the voice recognition function a little bit, because sometimes I have to repeat something 3-4 times to finally get it to register what I say, this is even after using the test voice pairing function, and I think the Nissan nav database could use more points of interests; every once and a while it seems to be missing some key chain stores in certain locations
other than that, I'm happy with the graphics, directions, interface, and easy of function, and what it allows you to do and not do while driving!
