1992 Maxima GXE Rear Brake Conversion

Just got the maxima last week. Then put on the 18" g35's. Just ordered new lower control arms, ball joints, and going to buy the shocks and struts all around before the c.a. install.
want to know if i can replace the ugly drums and replace them with calipers...
i used the search but dont see anyting like a write-up or something that i can follow.
well any help would be great guys thanks.

jeez you didn't have to be such an hero, Mr Rice.

you need the strut assemblies and ebrake cables from a disc car. if you want stock size rotors, get a full 91-94 pair cuz the pads are much bigger than the 89-90 pads. if you want an easy 1.1" upgrade, get 89-90 struts/caliper adapter brackets, and bolt the 91-94 tqmember/caliper/pads/cables on with a '86 z31 rotor, and cut the dust shield so they'll fit.

no, there are no kits for anything on our cars. if you want aftermarket support, buy a more popular 'tuner' car.

but honestly it's not that hard. 3 bolts and 3 nuts on each side if you're just doing the stock size setup, (well more bolts if you're putting on all new rotors) and a few bolts to swap the ebrake cables. i went from drums to discs (albeit the 1.1" upgrade) last year and it wasn't that hard. it's something i wouldn't have a problem doing again.

ntrly. it's so easy i could do it with my eyes closed. just find a car at the JY that has everything all together in one piece. if you're in doubt just get a set from a car whose manufacture date is 91 or later, and stick to the stock size rotors. the ONLY time you'd want any 89-90 stuff is just for those innermost brackets for the 1.1" upgrade (z31 rotors), otherwise stick with a full 91-94 set.

yes it was done on a lift by a team of professional mechanics, but that was only because I got to cheat like that.

Matt has a full write up on a stock conversion from drum to disc. It's pretty straight forward.
