5th Gen Exhaust Opinions

Hey All,

I just replaced the whole left front end of the max AGAIN. (Lower ball joint, CV shaft, and tie rod end). Problem is now I like the car again. So.... I ordered a new hood to replace my C/F but I'm still not thrilled with my exhaust note. Background: Cattman Y-pipe, high flow cat, 2 1/4 cust. B-pipe (no res) and a stainless muffler. I am happy with the sound at idle and it doesn't drone at highway speeds, but upon acceleration its raspy. Kind of like the rice boi civics. Should I weld a new res into the b-pipe. Has anyone used the silencers that go after the muffler in the tip? I have some room so the silencer wont be seen.

I welcome all opinions. Please help!

Dan

Resonator should quiet it down some. I've never used the silencers at the tip.

The resonator is probably one of the reasons your getting that raspy acceleration sound. Did the same thing to my civic a few years back with headers exhaust and no resonator and it was extremely raspy so I bought one and put it on and it changed the tone completely. The silencer is an option however it usually is an option with the exhaust but universal ones are out there and would require enough space to be welded or bolted in..

Resonator the key

Gotta go with what everyone else has said... resonator.

I did A LOT of research before ordering my exhuast and I made sure I got a catback with a built in resonator to avoid that pissed off bees in a can sound. Wouldn't be able to handle that...

Good luck with yours!
