Which H3 fog bulbs are you using today?

Seems like a lot of the fog light discussions are dated.

So, it's Summer 2009... what bulbs are you using in your fogs?

I'm not really into that yellow look, or that blue-ish/purple white light. What I'm looking for is a clear, white light... but not a blinding one. Something that matches my OEM headlights better (2003 SE), or at least better than those dull halogens.

I'm also wondering if this could be had in the $30 range. Really looking forward to hearing some opinions. I've another replacement lens on the way, and want to do the bulbs at the same time.

I'm using Eurolite H3YL Yellow bulbs, love the output but they don't last that long, probably going to switch over to a Yellow HID setup soon

Stock bulbs w/ Lexus yellow capsules=) just for looks lol. but don't think that's what you're going for. get some cheap ebay tinted bulbs like 5000K and that should be fine. OSRAM, Philips, GE etc bulbs, i believe are out of your price range.

Seriously guys, I appreciate the comments, but please read beyond the thread title. I was asking, "I'm not really into that yellow look, or that blue-ish/purple white light. What I'm looking for is a clear, white light."

I know, man. you and I were all over MIK3's "amber fog" thread. But the amber LED isn't bright enough for functionality, just (good) looks.

I tried the orange Lamin-X, didn't care for it. Film does not provide the clean look I want. More accurately, film will only color the light, and I'm looking for white. (Actually, it was the same ORACAL film Lamin-X uses, but not cut by them.)

Please no. I'm sure they look fine, but that's not the thread objective.

(sigh) White. Not bluish purple. Read beyond the thread title.

You're right, that's not what I'm going for.

Oh my god... I wish I could edit the thread title. This is going nowhere.

But remember our "cornering" light will be the original colour, unless you change that bulb also

Which PIAA's, Johnnyd2k2? And which set is for sale... the Luminics or the PIAA's?

Does anyone have any opinion on the PIAA H3 Series Intense White? $50 is kind of pricey, but if that's the cost for quality white, that's the cost.

Ebay has these "6000k" LED's in H3 compatibility; all over Ebay. My experience with LED is look over fog performance.

I can feel it... this thread is going to turn into a yellow-fog love fest.

Oh sorry its the Luminics I have 4sale, and I don't remember which PIAAs I had but they only lasted about 3 months before they crapped out on me, and they were like $50, total rip off. I'd stay away from PIAAs unless you want to go through a couple sets a year.

Wow. Now that's good advice. Thanks! Looking away from PIAA...

thats what i did

also if youre looking to match the factory HID lights with your fogs, you can always try LED H3's. Theres really not a lot of illmunation in front of the vehicle, but the HID color is down.

That probably looks good with your white car and blue-tinted windows.

(From PIAA's website): "For the fashion conscious driver PIAA offers our new H-3 Super Plasma GT-X bulb. This bulb will give your factory fog lights a beautiful bluish purple look."

I'm not looking for bluish purple.

However, your testimonial about PIAA is interesting in comparison to johnnyd2k2's comments. Now sure what to think about that, but it puts PIAA products back on the table.

That piaa-poop thread led me to a website where someone had replaced all their bulbs with Eaglite bulbs. Very nice...

...but that was also 7 years ago, and I can't seem to find Eaglite products online. "Eaglite" is all over the web in forum references, but no obvious retailer website. And no manufacturer website.

I take that back, the "eaglite.com" domain now goes here: http://www.prostreetlighting.com

Hmm...

Their H3 bulbs are going for $30 (my price point).

http://www.prostreetlighting.com/pro...ue_lights.html

I wonder...

I used to run Sylvania silverstars and they were white, pretty good match to hids. They lasted for about a year or so

If I read your thread request correctly it sounds like you are after the same as I was when I purchased my 03 Max, I just didn't like the the light shade from my fogs and wanted something closer to the HID head lamp color. I purchased the following fog lamp bulbs and just swapped them in to get a truer white color cost me 35.00. Is this what you are looking for?

Yes! That is exactly the look I want. Very well done, Ghost. And $35 is the right price point, too.

Do you have a URL for the purchase?

Just about any car performance shop would carry these bulbs as they are readily available **note they are 100watt and not the normal 55watt which are the stock bulbs.

I picked mine up at my local car audio and performance shop here in Burlington, Ontario but I am sure if you were to check a few shops in your local you will find that they also carry them.

Here is a link from a G37 club the first thread has a web site that he purchased from

Yep, that's pretty inexpensive, and I really like the pictures you posted. I just ordered a pair from http://www.hrautoparts.com/ for $15/shipped.

The G37 forum had comments about the bulb not being white enough... but as long as it's not blue or yellow, and whiter than stock... or as long as it looks like your photo, I'll be happy.

Thanks, Ghost.

I ordered some 36 LED H3 bulbs... cuz I have Orion V2 angel eyes and I didn't want fogs that are too bright and detract from the halo look. I just wanted them to match. I'll be installing them this week, so we'll see...

ordered from v-leds.com

Love to see the pics. "36 LED's" Wow. That's loaded.

Like phatboislim and MIK3 with their amber LED's... good for you, man, being on the cutting edge with your 36-bulb LED's.

However, your testimonial about PIAA is interesting in comparison to johnnyd2k2's comments. Now sure what to think about that, but it puts PIAA products back on the table.

They are actually very white and match the stock HIDs almost perfectly:

The match is even better in real life; you can't see the purplish glare.

I've heard bad things about PIAA but I can't complain. My right bulb is disgusting looking because it was completely exposed since i had a quarter sized hole in that foglight and it still works great. 4 1/2 years, especially in that condition, is incredible.

I knew just what you were saying about the fog lamp color as it was one of the very first things I just had to change, and I am sure you are going to be just as pleased as I was with the match up for such a little cost.
